Buy-it-now question

A little while ago, I decided to try the buy-it-now option. When I listed the item, I set a starting bid of 6.99, with a buy-it-now option of 19.99. But when the first bidder bid upon it at 6.99, the buy-it-now option disappeared. Is this the usual case? I thought it would stay up as an option until bidding potentially may have reached 19.99? signed, Clueless in Pencilvania

Buy-it-now question

Only if you have a reserve on it. Otherwise the first bid cancels the BIN out. Chris

No, that's the way it is....first bid takes away the BIN option...the way you thought makes sense, but, like a lot of other things......;o) Anne >^..^<

Okay, thanks. I'll rethink the strategy for next time. I see now why some people put their starting bid so close to the buy-it-now price. /Karen

Buy-it-now question

You can try a fixed price listing with the "Submit Best Offer" feature 🙂

Buy-it-now question

I've seen that option too. Does that mean you MUST accept an offer? Would you have to set a reserve or anything? I'm so inexperienced at this stuff, lol. One of these days I'd love to open an eBay store too, but I just don't see how I can get enough stock for it. I'm lucky if I can do one or two art cards a day. How do people make more to accumulate an inventory? /K

Buy-it-now question

For "Submit Best Offer", you are not obligated to accept the offers you receive, and you do not need a reserve. If you choose to reject an offer, ebay will give you a space to comment on why the offer was rejected (write something nice here, because it will be available for public viewing if someone clicks on your bidders link.) I write something like: "Thank you for your offer, I truly appreciate it! Due to the time put into this artwork I cannot let it go for the amount you've offered. Thank you for your interest". I have no idea how people create ACEOs so fast - I average 2 per week (when I'm not really busy!) lol Jane

Buy-it-now question

I can usually only manage one a day - if I stay up until about 3:00am and I can only do that a couple of days a week. 🙂

One thing I have noticed is that some sellers add an extra incentive to BIN buyers, in cases like this - and as far as I know, this does not violate any eBay policies. So, in their listing they will say: "If you puchase the item BIN, I'll add an extra yadda yadda yadda..." (ATC, reprint of an ATC, etc.) Good luck Karen, your stuff is always so fantastic - I just LOVE watching your listings! xo - Chel

Buy-it-now question

Thanks Chel. My goal is to one day open an eBay store... Before I moved, I had a ton of jewellery that I had made and started selling but (and I know you've all heard this before) it's all in storage right now. Stuff like fabric cuffs, beadwork necklaces, bracelets and earrings. /K

Sunny..one way we have more stuff in our stores is because it doesn't sell! 🙂

But I see totally gorgeous work in peoples' stores. I don't get it! One thing I've noticed is that a few people put prints of their work in their stores. Maybe that's an option. Or make greeting cards of them or something.
