ACEO mailing question

I know some of you use the cd mailers to mail your ACEO's. Do they require any extra postage over the weight for their shape? I remember something about square envelopes having a surcharge. Thanks! Sara

10 cents extra. A 6x6" CD mailer, with 2 pieces of 4x6" index card, a sleeve, and a 4x6" sleeve costs me 52 cents.

ACEO mailing question

I've been mailing mine between matting boards I hand cut to each piece and then tape together each side with masking tape. Using regular size envelopes (I like the colored ones), I also like to pay the extra charge so they don't go through the automated machinery at the post office. I also ask for their "Do Not Bend" and personally stamp them while I'm there. The cost for one card is usually 56 cents, it can run at tad higher if a couple are inside the envelope. If it's over 3 cards, I like to use a legal envelope, but the charge runs the same.

I buy them on ebay. 200 at a time. They work out to about 17 cents each, if I remember cost plus shipping. Look in shipping supplies category (business) bulk.

Husband just bought me 2 packs of the 5"x5 1/4" CD mailers, but I can't get even a very small envelope in there, so I guess I'll have to take them back for the larger ones. I'll look at Ebay for the next bunch I buy, but Jim bought these, so I'll just exchange em. Dee

Thanks, I'll give ebay a try. I've been using thank-cards for one painting and the bubble envelopes for multiple buys, so I was trying to find something that worked for both at a reasonable price. I wonder if flatter items ship faster. It seems that when I mail the bubble envelopes it takes days longer. I was hoping that the cd mailers would ship faster, too. ~krista

Krista I do think your observation re bubble mailers vs flat to be right. Also, I have a PO box, and the PO staff usually BEND bubble mailers to get them into the box. ~Jillian

I think I may pick up some cd mailers. I have looked on ebay, but have found some of the shippping costs a bit much, so I may run to Staples and see what they offer. It costs me between $1.29-1.89 canadian to mail a bubble envelope (lettermail)

The shipping is a little crazy, but I just went to Staples today and those prices were not good either. Krista

Kelly, I thought that first about the shipping, too. But when you divide out the 200 CDs they work out to 17 cents each, even with shipping. This is a far cry from the 5x8" photo mailers I was buying from Office depot, 10 for just under $6. I like the photo mailers better, but these 6x6" in 200 lots have saved me a lot of trips to the office shops, etc.
