A MOVIE RECOMMENDATION

I know it's a wierd thing to post in an art group, but the movie was about the artist Vermeer, called Girl With a Pearl Earring. I had the flu for nearly three weeks and watched a LOT of movies I wouldn't have had time for otherwise. This movie really changed the way I see colors - in one scene Vermeer explains to his model how he layered his colors and why the first layer of colors she was looking at were "wrong". The moment I walked outside after the flick I saw everything differently - amazing. Also, I absolutely loved the scenes where they grind pigments and mix the paints - you had to be everything back then to be an artist - practically an alchemist! Gorgeous film - not to be missed by any artist! Vena

Oh Vena, I've seen it, it's fabulous! I don't think I have ever before so enjoyed a movie with so little dialogue, but some masterful acting really made you 'feel' it. Great recommendation, which I hearily second!! -- Diane Visit My eBay Store: Diane Weber Quilt Art

If you can stand subtitles and some nudity, "Camille Claudel" is a wonderful movie about Claudel and her relationship with Rodin.

I will check that out Julee - I love foreign movies, and nudity (as long as is isn't ME) is fine too! Vena

I whole-heartedly agree with the recommendations for Girl... and Camille. Both were excellent films - although Camille made me sob at the end. I'll have to check my library for Realms - sounds fascinating. I have to say, though, if your looking for films that actually focus on the artists work, avoid the new movie called Klimt. I've always loved Klimt's work, but you only get to see it for maybe 5 minutes in this film. The rest of the movie is about romantic obsession. I was kinda bummed.

Hey Ebay,

Absolutely, Girl with a Pearl Earring is a stunning watch for anyone intrigued by art and the artist's process. The film beautifully captures Vermeer's unique relationship with color and light, making viewers see the world through his meticulous eye. His layered technique, shown as he instructs his model, changes how you perceive even the simplest hues and tones. Watching pigments ground and paints mixed by hand adds a hands-on, almost alchemical element to the experience, transporting you into the heart of 17th-century artistry. Highly recommend watching it on Magis TV Adult for the complete, immersive experience.
