1. Everyone interested can commit to be a part of this project from now until August Feb. 1st. A list will then be posted in this thread, dividing everyone who signed up into groups of approximately 5 artists. People may sign up only once.
2. Each person on the list will begin a painting or drawing on a 5"x7" piece of flat paper. We recommend Bristol Vellum. It is sturdy, and will hold up through the handling / mailing. Each participating artist will provide the substrate. If you don't have Bristol Vellum, use a sturdy paper of your choosing.
3. That beginning artwork will be scanned and posted in a spoiler thread on this forum, then sent to the first person below them on the sign up list, within one week. The recipient will continue the piece and send it to the person below them within one week. This will continue until the 5th person completes the art.
4. In this way, each artist who signs up is committing to
a) Start a work on an 5"x7" piece of drawing paper, sign the back, post a scan of it in a spoiler thread on our ACEO forum, and mail it to the second artist
b) Continue as the second artist on a piece sent to them, sign the back, post a scan of it in a spoiler thread on our ACEO forum, and mail it to the third artist
c) Continue as the third artist on a piece sent to them, sign the back, post a scan of it in a spoiler thread on our ACEO forum, and mail it to the fourth artist
d) Continue as the fourth artist on a piece sent to them, sign the back, post a scan of it in a spoiler thread on our ACEO forum, and mail it to the fifth artist
e) Complete a piece sent to them, sign the back, post a scan of it in a spoiler thread on our ACEO forum, and mail it back to the artist who started it originally.
f) In our group photo album, post a photo of the completed artwork they started (when it is sent back to them.) We can help if you need instruction on how to do this.
5. The artist who originates and then gets back a completed piece of artwork may keep it, sell it, reproduce it, or do as they see fit with it. That artist will own the copyrights to the art and its images. The other participating artists will not have copyrights to the finished work, or the work in progress.
Disclaimers:
- By participating, you are agreeing that you will allow other artists to alter your work in the completion of the project. In some cases, your work may even be painted over.
- Be mindful of the media used. Oil paints and pastels are not good choices for such a short timeframe, the multiple shippings, and the fact that oils are difficult to paint over.
........................................................
Now, to sign up, please do the following:
A - List your country (this will make it easier to assemble groups who don't have lots of downtime for snail mail, and I'll try to spread it out so we don't have one person spending a fortune on postage, if I can)
B - Be sure to check back here on Feb 2nd. At that time, the groups will be listed, and I'll post instructions for the spoiler thread, and mailing your artwork.
Let's have fun!!
