Got my jury duty summons about 2 wks ago. Couldn't believe it. 3rd time within 7 years; last time, 3 years ago. Criminal court. Hung jury. Two boneheads. They had just come from a prior trial which also ended with a hung jury. Worst experience ever as far as serving is concerned. Have served 5 times in all counting previous states. I figured the last time, that i wouldn't have to worry about serving ever again since at the age of 70, you can opt out. Well, apparently that isn't so. I called the Jury Foreman. Long discussion. Have to be 75 and half dead to get out of serving. After long discussion,(about method of selection, hung jury, etc.) the foreman said, well, how about a postponement until 2026? Fine by me. Thank you so much, really in truly. Report date was the 12th and I didn't go. Sheriff didn't show up to escort me, so I guess it held up.
