Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

So, the correct answer you should be delivering to Sellers regarding embedding YouTube product videos is - NO, EBAY DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION FOR SELLERS TO BE ABLE TO CORRRECTLY EMBED VIDEO ONCE THE ACTIVE CONTENT BAN GOES INTO EFFECT IN JUNE.

I mean, how difficult is it for you "so called advisors" to provide truthful and correct information? I think less of you and eBay today than I ever have. It is like you people just want to have an appearance of being forthright and moral.

...and you wonder why Sellers have a low regard for people like you.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

My question is why ebay customer service has not responded to this post, it seems to be a very astude and accurate question, that I myself would also like an answer too?

How does this help us as Sellers?

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

You can include videos in your listing using the HTML code below. While some video hosting sites do not fully support HTML5, we're working with popular sites to provide a solution in early 2017. Before you post a video, make sure you understand the eBay Links policy for more information on restrictions/requirements for videos in listings.

Here's some code to embed a video in your listing:

	<video width="320" height="240">
	  <source src="movie.mp4" type="video/mp4">
	  <p>Here is a video of the product</p>
	</video>

Hi @mnelson0215 - While this updates brings changes to fees and discounts, it also introduces new ways to boost visibility into sellers' inventory and make their listings more competitive. It's easy to calculate the exact amount lost with a reduction in the Top Rated discount but with our efforts in Promoted Listings, removal of third-party product ads, and new tools, it could show a larger benefit in return.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I am looking for another site.   Ebay sticks it to the seller in every way possible.  Why should I rush to get items out within a one day time frame.  Any reason I had for even bothering has been cut by 50% with absolutely no explanation.  Ebay should re-read the fairy tale about the people who killed the golden goose.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I think "customize the days we work" means we can specify in our listing and/or profile what days we are avaiable and working so customers will know if they message us or purchase on a day we are NOT working, our response will be delayed. 🙂 ... anxious to see how this works as well as the shipping cost tables... don't like anything about the rest of the updates. 😞

heidi@ebay,

"but with our efforts in Promoted Listings, removal of third-party product ads, and new tools, it could show a larger benefit in return. "

What if it doesn't, so you shrank our margin for what?

Ad a developer who specializes in SEO, that is not your problem. And those changes will not drive traffic.

Your problem on traffic is a lack of advertisements. If you said we are shrinking your fees so we can run 1000 hours of TV ads to drive traffic we might be able to buy into this. But this is cut with promises of rainbows and unicorns in the end. And from a technical prospective I just don't see how any of this achives any of your goals.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

Unless I misread it some time ago, using "promoted listings" is yet another fee charged to the seller. But only if it sells?? Duh! Again cutting more of the sellers profit margin. This also means as I have seen before that Ebay manipulates the searchs depending on what you pay. Removal of third party adds is Ebay losing money but it is  a benefit to sellers. However, the only place I can see there "could" be a larger return is in Ebay's pockets not the sellers at all. Many people I speak with have been pushing me to sell on Amazon because they say it is the "go to place" when people are shopping online nowadays. They probably are better is some respects but I came back to Ebay a few years ago because they had made some big improvements in there selling strategies which were a benefit to the sellers at that time. Unfortunately that  seems to have gone somewhat by the wayside in favor of "short term quick profit" Amazon is growing rapidly due to good advertisement and making it a place people want to go to. Ebay on the other hand is not doing anything that I can see to drive traffic to the site and are instead charging more for less and cutting there own throat long term in the process. Some of there strategies may work fine for people who deal with drop shippers but for the other sellers like myself that sell what I actually have and take my own pictures of the actual item I have, it has and will continue to hurt the sellers. I have to be honest and say the "only" and I empahsize "ONLY" reason I am selling here is because of the traffic on this site. If Ebay doesn't step up and start using a different strategie aka long term to drive traffic to there site that benefit will also go by the wasyside and many reall sellers will be gone. Ebay! think LONG TERM! and remember
What benefits sellers, benefit Ebay, it is as simple as that. Think of the KISS principle in business!

You read it correctly, but the fee increases are meant to FUND a $30 promotional fee credit for store owners.

But only if it sells?? Duh!

Well yes.  Would you prefer a fee that is charged for using the program whether the item sells or not?????

If you don't like Ebay fees, you certainly aren't going to like Amazon fees.  You should do a little research on that.

****Yes you can get a fee credit but depending on what level you buy into what fees you pay and that credit is a drop in the bucket compared to what it will cost you if you utilize the promoted listings. Ebay should be promoting and advertising our listings anyway, not charging us more. In any case it is hardly worth it for a seller and for in general all Ebay sellers who basically, if they don't buy into the whole promoted listings thing are not going to have there items seen as much so again the playing field is out of kilter. So you can make good listings, take good pictures, and make a good title and it still may not be seen by many because Ebay manipulates the searchs to your detriment because your not willing to pay even more money to them.

**** Ebay used to charge you weather it sold or not, which they finally got away from because they were losing seller to other sites. They then started the 50 free listings a month deal which would work good for someone that only has a few things to sell And I was saying this sarcastically because the way they make it sound is, it cost you nothing unless it sells so that's a good thing, right? Not for the general seller who doesn't get as much exposure in the searchs simply because he is not willing or cannot afford to pay even more in order to be found in searches which should be the same for everyone. And on Amazon fees, I know they are quite high. I just wish Ebay would think more in the long term interest of it's sellers and realize if they take care of the seller, the sellers will take care of them.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

How else will ebay reward their bread and butter earners this year?
The bottom line, Corporate greed, complacent policy, filled with diminishing earners and fatter CEO's, department heads and subordinate personnel, will continue to shift departments, be on vacation or simply doesn't work at ebay anymore when accountability is demanded. because, ebay is not seeing through the clouds of the bottom line. blinded by bonuses greed, the class actions are piling up. the lawsuit variance isn't clear enough yet for them to have had enough to see that they themselves will extinct themselves right out of the market. I mean this in a positive way. REALLY EBAY

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I dont like this "new" way of how things look. Now I cant tell how much I have $$$ money wise to see how much I can list. As the saying goes " If it aint broke, dont fix it"..  Go back to the way it was.  You're gonna lose a LOT of sellers on here to Amazon.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I'm LIVID about the decrease in final value fee discount.  There is absolutely no way for eBay to defend this decision- it is incredibly unfair it is bad business, it is Greedy!  This change institutes a Blanket Decrease to profit margins ACROSS THE BOARD for all Top Rated Plus Sellers.  There is no way for sellers to counter this - we can increase prices but we all know that could jeapordize volume + Profit margin stays the same no matter what.  So everyone loses- Sellers and Consumers.  The only winner here is eBay.   Everyone should understand this - eBay has lowered your profitability - there is no creative way to alter this fact.

THUMBS DOWN x10!  Really LOW move eBay!  Shame on you
