My most recent thought was Lady Caroline Lamb's "Glenarvon" but I've
only found one source that suggested a name was left unchanged. This is
a stumper for me.
Not certain about Metalious - it really was a guess. Based on some half
remembered idea I had about the book. Off to think about earlier female
authors...
