Customer states I sent it to the wrong address but I sent it to the address on file with eBay how do I clear this up.

I sent a customer the wrong item and exchanged it for the correct item, now ebay wants me to refund the customer not knowing I exchanged it and issued him a return label and now all is good. I dont need to refund but ebay is demanding I refund , what...
