Why is PayPal no longer a payment option?

When did eBay stop accepting PayPal payment for purchases? I tried to buy several items from different sellers and PayPal was not a payment option. When did eBay begin credit card only payments? If I can’t pay with PayPal, I’ll not shop on eBay!
