How do we get eBay to not count items that are renewing as part of the 250 items we can list each month for free?

We are new to Ebay. We are just trying to make some extra money. We have had 3 items that were sold , but the people don't pay for them. We have to keep the item from being listed for three days till we can relist it. Is there antway to stop this??
