Buy Now Option stays until end?

Was selling an iPhone. No Reserve Price. Buy Now for $720. Seven day auction. Auction had >80 bids and was already at $705 with an hour to go. Then someone was able to Buy Now for $720. Why did that option still exist? What did I miss? Thanks!
