Had to do the same thing and disable Adblock Plus, though you get to see
a bunch of google search result ads at the bottom of the page now. Not

Had the same experience recently. After turning off Adblock, the search
results load much faster, but now there are a bunch of (google search)
website ads at the bottom of the page, which I do not recall ever being
a thing.
