A way or hack to defeat other's max bids?

Anyone aware of any hacks or way to circumvent the idiot bidders with max bids set? In other words, any method exist to: win it (for less) & obviously make them lose miserably?

Greed, lack of transparency, and of course 'small business killing fees' - the most ridiculous being the 'promoted' garbage they push.
