Buy it now settings for auctions

I listed my item for auction starting at $30, with buy it now set at $50. The current bid is now at $51, and the sale is continuing. This is the second time this has happened to me. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Does anyone know how to turn off the sponsored listings in my saved searches? They make my eBay experience worse.
