the seller who was obviously trying to sell a faulty item (which I
suspect he knew was faulty), and then making it so difficult to return,

It would seem that I am yet another victim of eBay's poor instructions
as I have just experienced the exact same situation as you. The buyer
refused to issue a return label, so I just assumed that I would be
reimbursed later and sent the item back. L...
