I found this really pretty wool embroidered shawl. All the embroidery is hand done as is the knotted fringe. I was wondering if it was something other than a piano shawl or mourning shawl because it's only embroidered on one end. In the pics the shawl is folded in half with the side not showing being exactly the same as the side showing sans the embroidery. I believe the embroidery is done with silk floss. Also the fringe is wider and more like a tape. I would love to know if this is something other than a shawl and what the circa is. Thanks so much for any help you can give me!

Not sure I see "antique." It appears to be machine embroidered and, If it were truly old, the fringe would not be ribbon. What are the dimensions? And old or new, source would be China.

I think it's definitely old. The embroidery is definitely hand done and I can tell by the wool that it's old too. Not ribbon fringe...tape of some type.
