This was originally posted on Seller Tools Forum but it was suggested (@shipscript) I post it here after checking if my addresses stored in eBay (@lacemaker3) do not contain the offending address, which it does not. So here it is:
Hi Guys
I am developing a system using the Trading API Get Item. While doing this I noticed it pulls in the Sellers Address as long as they are a business seller BUT its pulling in an old address! This address was updated last year and its displayed on all the live listings correctly but the API pulls in the old address so is this a bug/issue at the actual eBay site or developer site, I suspect its at eBays end? I have contacted support at eBay and they have asked me to contact Developer API so here I am 😓
Are there any Mods who can help on this?
Cheers

Does this community have any Moderators who are employed by the eBay Developers API?
My problem is not down to an old address being stored on eBay as the same is for all 3 of my accounts which do not have the offending address anywhere in all 3 accounts! I don't think it's fair I should have to pay $75.00 for support when it's clearly in issue with the API!
PLEASE HELP! 🙏

OK, I have now wrote to the eBay CEO and the UK Director. The CEO's PA responded saying the developers API is a third-party tool! I have found a statement in your help pages which states: “Developer Technical Support is a premium developer service provided by eBay.” 🤔
OK, let me give some context to this: I wrote to eBay with the below:
"I have reported this many times in the past but you referred me to the eBay API Developers website. I have contacted the developers through their forum but I've had no response and as this issue is not my problem I am asking you again to correct this between Yourselves and the API Developers website because this is a breach of personal data and GDPR Regulations. I am sure you recognise I have a legal right to request my data be removed from your databases!
If you check all my accounts you will not find the address in question anywhere on all 3 of my eBay accounts BUT, if I send an API Request on the Trading API to the GetItem Call the address returned which is attached to all of my listings is not my business address as its displayed /viewed directly from a listing on the eBay website! Anybody who has access to the eBay API has access to this information!!
So, this is my formal and final request for you to remove this address from the database where the API is pulling the data from. If this isn’t performed as per previous requests I will have no option but to seek legal advice on this Data Breach.
I do hope to see a speedy resolution to this."
Message now to API Developer Moderators. Your website does not comply to GDPR Law in the EU/UK. You have not provided a way for users to request data to be removed so please correct the date breach issue I have described ASAP. At least give the curtesy of a reply!

If you go here and click continue (just once), does it list any edit options for existing registrations?
https://pages.ebay.co.uk/services/registration/businesslanding.html
European site has some different registration flows and <BusinessSellerDetails><Address> isn't used in the US, so I don't have any way of testing/investigating if there is some special way that data gets handled.

*(Disclaimer) I have no connection to eBay, just making a suggestion based on information I stumbled across

Maybe this one will work (can you help please?):

You should go to the ebay UK site to find an solution. Not all ebay sites work exactly the same.

In the past, we have seen some "old" addresses bubbling up from somewhere in the depths of eBay's database. Even though all of their account settings had been updated, buyers have had to edit the address that appears on checkout and sellers have had to manually change listings that were brought forward from a sell-similar.
I assume you have checked all of your business addresses (there can be several dispatch, delivery, and return addresses in account settings - and they must all be checked):
https://accountsettings.ebay.co.uk/uas/addresses
I would not think that your developer subscription would carry an address into your listings, but the API itself may be reaching into a database that should no longer be there (it has happened at least once in the past).
@2oolz Is this the account that you are accessing through the API that is retrieving your own older address as a seller? Can you describe the GetItem call (and dependencies) that you are using when the wrong address is returned? Is this a post-sale call or something else? What is the nature of the wrong address (specifically requested or returned by default, etc), since you state it is not appearing incorrectly in the listing?
Have you used the same API modules in the past, which might be storing constant values on your server?

Hi @shipscript
Just to let you know, I ended up getting in touch with the CEO, his PA is dealing with this and they have finally admitted it is an issues which they are looking into but thanks for your input and for thanks for your Great Website which I have used and learned a lot from it in the past 👍
Do you take on any coding/development projects?
Cheers

I would love to hear what they find, as this mystery pops up every now and then.
Thank you for using the tools on my site. Sorry, I don't do any API coding.
