Counterfeit Doll

You have a pre Mattel American Girl Doll from when the business was known as Pleasant Company.   Pleasant Rowland sold her successful company in the late 90's to Mattel.  Seemed incongruous as she had claimed she started the business as an alternative to Barbie.   If the wig cap is darker it may not be Molly.  Could be a brunette from the early AGOT line.   What color are the eyes?

They used different manufacturers for the dolls over time, some had body tags some did not, you can't go by that.   It could also be an older head put on a newer body.  It is not counterfeit.

Sadly I can confirm it is counterfeit. She has a hole in her head. I took off the wig and there were no short strands, not to mention it felt like saran or nylon, not kanekalon. I can knock off the theory of an old head and newer body because the head and body are the same level of hardness. And I can't squish unless I heat them with boiling water. And by watermark I meant the artists mark which is on the left ear of all American girl dolls.
