Practice Board for HTML work

The Practice Board is a great tool for working with HTML because you can check out how your HTML code looks before you actually commit to putting it out for the world to see.

It's found at: www.practiceboard.com Go ahead and open that now to see what it looks like.

When you first open it the page looks like the illustration below -- pretty simple looking and guess what? It's very simple to use as well.

Just continue scrolling down the page to the next illustration and you'll see the details on how each section works.

PracticeBoard full view

The following illustration should give you an idea of what you can do with Practice Board.

All you have to do is: #1 type in your HTML code; #2 click the "see HTML" button to see what your HTML code looks like; and #3 use the URL (highlighted in blue) to use as a link to show others what that code looks like.

Item #3 will become more useful as we go along but for now I want you to know about it. We'll do a little practice session with it shortly so don't worry a bit about how or why it's there.

One word of caution about Practice Board -- sometimes you can't get it to work. A lot of people use this cute little utility and it gets overloaded and will shut down for a while (I've seen it go down for as long as a couple of days).

That sounds bad but it's definitely not as horrible as it sounds. Should it go down I've got a backup plan that we'll use and everything will be fine.

Practice Board is really good for just checking your own work and it's best features are: it's free and easy to use.

My recommendation is that you bookmark "Practice Board" because it's a darn good tool for you to keep handy. -- Edited by chucksiebert at 10/04/2008 9:56 PM PDT -- Edited by chucksiebert at 10/04/2008 9:57 PM PDT -- Edited by chucksiebert at 10/04/2008 9:59 PM PDT -- Edited by ds_gifts at 10/05/2008 4:10 PM PDT -- Edited by paulajeansjewelryandcloset at 02/10/2009 3:42 PM PST

Practice Board for HTML work

codedd5 ... good work! I always appreciate new leads on "tools" to use for HTML work. I checked it out but, unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. #1 reason I don't use Internet Explorer (I've been around computers since the 70s and I've got this "gentle" feud going on with Microsoft). Now, I did open up IE and give it a try but alas it still wouldn't "work" and the reason probably revolves around the fact that I don't use a PC -- yup, an Apple iBook that's gettin' a bit of gray hair and limps now and then but she is super reliable and hasn't crashed yet. Why an Apple?? It hasn't crashed or locked up yet and the feud thing. I do graphics work and my iBook works very, very good. That said Practice Board is only good for a few things and I don't plan to encourage people to use it long term. Looking down the road a bit I'll be talking about HTML editors and validators. Some of those are free and some aren't but the really expensive ones will feed your dogs and cats, take out the trash, and wake you up in the morning but not one of them does windows. thanks again and if you run across, or are using any other cool HTML gadgets let us know. Should probably start a section on the board about cool gadgets. Chuck

Macs are typically an awesome system. No where near as buggy as windows. I would love to get a mac. --

squirrel,Football? I used to be addicted to it but now I'm .... much better. I like the last 5 minutes (30 minutes in the real world) of a close game. I really enjoy all sports but I've learned to use the internet a lot to keep track of scores and occasionally turn on the tube to watch the end of close games. Don't really have any favorite teams.
Angel, I think you've got it! The only thing I'd like to see is the close tag </font> at the end of each change in color.

You've Got It!

You Really Do!

You've Got It!

You Really Do!

Would look like this:

<font color="#FF3300">You've Got It!</font>

<font color="#66CC33">You Really do!</font>

<font color="#FFFF00">You've Got It!</font>

<font color="#FF66FF">You Really do!</font>

On ebay messaging you don't need it but if you plan on doing a website or web page then it would be a good habit to get into now.
