Re: Photobucket Tutorial

PHOTOBUCKET for Fun and Profit
PART 1

Photobucket is a great place to store photos for free! If it's free, it's for me! You get up to 1GB of storage ... free! If you want more then you have to pay but for our purposes right now let's stick with free.

Beyond storage there is also a bunch of other cool features (also free) but I'm certainly not the one to explain all of them because I don't (sometimes can't --- I'm using a MAC computer) use more than a couple of the "tools".

I call Photobucket a "tool" because just like anyone who is a worker the tools they use are important to getting the job done. Good, or great, tools make whatever it is that you do go faster and easier. Photobucket does that!

We've got an Ornaments for Charity Auction coming up and this last Friday Danna & Paula talked about it a bit. One of the things that came up briefly is "taking pictures of your ornaments and uploading the pictures to Photobucket." That's why I posting this thread about Photobucket. I willingly volunteered to get the word out by posting a quick tutorial on Photobucket so that those of you who don't know how will have some information on what to do.

Photobucket isn't the only image storage site on the web but it sure is pretty darn neat for the price. Did I mention that it's free?

The basic, basic task that we're going to do is this: #1 -- open our own Photobucket account; #2 -- create a folder for ornaments; #3 -- upload our images to Photobucket; #4 -- create a link that we can use in our charity listings so that other people can click on it, view our ebay listing, buy each of our ornaments for thousands upon thousands of dollars!

Sound good? Let's get started!

Step #1 -- go to PB (really cool people call Photobucket, "PB") and create an account at the: Photobucket web site. Bookmark the page or add it to your Favorites because once you start using PB you'll want to use it often.

See the green rectangle that says, JOIN NOW!, go ahead click that and you're on your way to health, wealth & happiness....

Next you'll see a page that looks like the following:

Selling Tips Group on eBay

First, set up a folder in PB for "ornaments" and after you click on "Save" then open the "ornament" folder that you just created.

Next go to the "upload" section. If you need more than 3 uploads then click on the "+ add more" button -- that will give you 20 uploads. Click "Browse" and select the image you want to upload. It's best to set up a unique folder that's easy to find and keep track of. Work you way through all your images and then click "Upload".

After the images are uploaded to Photobucket a new page (like the one below) will pop up. All you need do with this page is to give each image a brief title, and if you like, a description. Neither the title nor the description are really necessary so don't get too carried away here.

Selling Tips Ebay Group

This is the end of part 1. Practice on your own by setting up "junk" albums and uploading different images. The maximum size for images that PB will allow is 1024 pixels by 768 pixels. That's pretty darn big but if you need it it's there.

PB Part 2 will cover generating HTML code with PB ... that sounds impressive and it certainly is but don't tell your friends that all the work is done by PB and you just push a button. After you have HTML code what the heck do you do with it? That will be covered as well but you'll have to do the work there. It's called copy and paste. You can do it!
