US stamps were not grilled until 1867. The postmark on this cover is 1862.
Unfortunately the stamp is in poor shape, and of the commonest color.
However this cover was sent during the Civil War from New Bern North Carolina during the very earliest period of Union occupation after the surprise capture of Port Royal the previous November. So the postmark, on the entire cover, is worth far more than the stamp even if it were in perfect shape.

I wasn't able to clearly see the date cancel its self, now that you point it out I can clearly see the date of 1862.
