Hello, Hello!

Still trying to fill out my Machins, but now I have a lot of dross to remove. Gave up trying to use the Scott Machin pages and catalog and have switched to the SG Concise, which doesn’t carry all the lettering changes, but lists the various phosphorus/ printer combinations.

My US PNC single collection is filling up…gave up on collecting those strips and noe search for used singles.

Hows by you all..if any are still around…in dire need of friendly chatter, folks!

also, please visit  and post on the FB eBay users Stamp Board!

Ciao!

Re: Hello, Hello!

Yeah, things have been a bit ... slow here lately. I'm still trying to work one country at a time, for the last year or so that has been Luxembourg. but I have enough material to move on at any time. I think my pages for Luxembourg are up to the mid 1920s and things get boring after that. I have a Cape of Good Hope collection on the way that doesn't have many holes, I might just do a one or two frame exhibit on the triangles from it instead of my normal country collection. I also have a fairly large accumulation of early Bosnia, with lots and lots of perforation varieties in those first two sets. Finally I have a base Australia collection that's mostly just missing the high face 'roo and map issues (the ones that are included over 10/ have telegraph punch cancels) and there's a lot of room for that to expand, what with die and shade varieties.

Somewhere around here I have a banker's box full of Machins that I bought at a charity sale, but have no interest in at all. They are too new for my tastes, even though they would be complex enough to be interesting.

Re: Hello, Hello!

 Hi Burt and Bill Seymour,

Just sitting here in my rocking chair...just kidding.

No stamps for me anymore, I have transferred my interest to silver coins (slabbed Walking Liberty halves, Standing Liberty quarters) and graded currency.

Hope you both are well

Re: Hello, Hello!

Good to see all of you!

No stamps for me now... and I need to work to divest myself of them.  Instead, my focus is purely postal history.  So... I guess there are stamps there.  🙂

Not always, unless they are fairly modern (like less than 150 years old)...

Re: Hello, Hello!

Hi Everyone,

I've been busy since I'm editor of the American Helvetia Philatelic Society journal - TELL. I've not bought much over the last couple of years but been selectively selling items that once were very cheap on eBay , pre-2006, now worth a lot more since the big time collectors were pointing their moses in the air about eBay. One of my most recent sales included 4 Swiss postal cards pre-1875 (pre-UPU) for over $1700. Which is really nice since they cost $49.50 on eBay! Haven't seen special items like that for over 10 years so most of my recent looking has been on Delcaampe. The categories are more detailed compared to eBay which became almost unusable circa 2010. Key word searches most difficult amd lack of significant category details.

Anyway you might remember I collected and exhibited Swiss "razor" cancels. My final iteration was shown last May in Bern, Switzerland, where it was awarded a Large Gold by Swiss judges. One exhibit received  one more point than mine so very close to top scoring exhibit at the show - Bernaba2025. Only a total of 9 Large Golds out of 39 Swiss postal history exhibits and 95 Swiss exhibits!

Its being hosted on Richard Frajola's Chat here - https://www.rfrajola.com/2K25/Heath_Bernaba.pdf

It's now at Corinphila Auctions and will be sold in November (I believe). I'll be real interested how they break it down for selling since there are rare items but they don't have valuable stamps, only unusual destinations or came from interesting places for those with receiving date stamps.

I've had a lot of fun over the years and enjoyed all the companionship that eBay Stamp Chat provided in the early days. There's nothing like it today and the knowledge gained then stuck  all these years.

Re: Hello, Hello!

Congratulations Roger!  Well done.

I still exhibit the postal history of the 24-cent US 1861 Issue.  I was awarded the Grand Award at the Great American Stamp Show this past August which was a nice validation.

I have continued to write Postal History Sunday each week.  I think I'm up to 270 entries now.
