There is always someone who cares. I know this is TCM's thread & hope she doesn't mind if I start #3. We can't go without a 'who the heck cares'.

Uh oh, Cathy, I did do laundry on New Years Day. Both mine and the Plumbers. I did not, however, leave the house! HAHA I realized when I came to work yesterday morning that I had not left the house since last year! LMAO
I usually have cabbage and black eyed peas on New Years, but didn't this year.
Lady Dom, sounds like this is going to be an ongoing problem for you! UGH! Good luck!
I'm lol'ing at Royal Fleabag, Fruit! My three like catnip, but they go batsh!t crazy for grass. Just plain old grass I've got in the yard!
Beautiful, TCM! Thank you for sharing!
Dom, I wish I could but I'm going to be doing a rolling start, part in the old, part in the new. Whenever we figure out who's replacing me I know how much quicker I'll get to the new job!
Sounds like everyone had a great New Year's. We didn't make it to midnite, we were both so tired! lol Which was ok with me. No big party, either, my mom and her Bf stopped by as did my dad!

Update on "Christmas Bra"............at a standstill, ran out of the clear beads I was putting on the sides. Have to check Hobby Lobby/Michaels to get another pack (it will be my luck they are discontinued).
21 degrees with snow squals. I'm freezing my rumpus off. C.A.T. is pizzed off because he can't go prowlling, so he's been sulking in his "fortress of solitude" aka under the bed.
He's been sneezing a bit......perhaps a subtle hint I need to take care of the "dust bunnies" under the bed.😒 My vac does not lay flat enough to run under there, so it's always a challenge.
.....I might just spray him down with Endust & tempt him with toys on a string, see what comes out.😾🤔
I recieved a unique present from my BFFs for Christmas: a 1931 copy of a book called "BONERS" (students answers to written exams/papers.....all of them wrong). Compiled by someone named Alexander Abingdon...& illustrated by an unknown artist named.....Dr. Seuss.
It's the first published book illustations he did.....way before "The Cat In The Hat".
An example:
"A morality play is a play in which the characters are goblins, ghosts, virgins and other supernatural creatures."
Name three tragedies by Shakespeare.
"Macbeth, King Lear & Twelve Nights in a Bar Room."
It would appear that many of us are "fans of the Bard".🍺🍸

Lol, C.A.T. doesn't like being housebound.
Going to get a cool down here. Not as bad as yours and Fredi's.
Nights in the 20's, days in the 40's.
I'd be happy to sleep through winter.
Have started getting seed catalogs.
Lots of stuff to look at.Going to take a nap.
Husband and Son got off early and brought me 2 sausage biscuits.
Now I'm sleepy. Gonna take a nap.
Stay warm.

Have some cold and nasty weather headed our way. Will get more of the freezing drizzle than snow. I would take snow any day. May not be able to get out in the morning.
Love the photo of the morning sun, TCM. A hike out there sounds wonderful. I sure miss the woods we had nearby that could walk to and once got into the woods were a number of nice hiking trails. All gone now and replaced with 100's of houses 😢
Haven't taken down any Christmas stuff yet. But, it will come down by Jan 6th.
Well, I may be able to come in with some wild cat tales soon. My Myah has been gone now for 3 years so, decided time to get another cat. Adopted her on the 2nd. 8 month old tabby. Waiting on her to get spayed. Sounds like she was more of an outdoor kitty and brought in to the shelter along with a sibling and her mother; both of them have been adopted. Mazzy has unique markings and has white feet. They had named her Mary, but no way this cat is a Mary. So, changed it to Mazzy. Visited her this afternoon and decided Mazzy may be an abbreviation for the Maserati sports car....she was a little whirling dervish, running, banking off the walls, climbing the kennels....oh what did I get myself into? 🙄 The doll room will definitely have to be closed off! I have time to get the house somewhat ready since her surgery date isn't until the 13th. She will stay at the shelter until then. It is a very nice shelter, so not too worried about her being there. And will give me time to brace myself for the little monster.

The days of serenity with Myah are past

Hola Fruitflogger...! Your post reminds Heron of the time he landed his first 'white collar' job. Yes, Heron was hired by a banco to be a construction inspector. Driving to various construction sites that were
funded by the banco. The first 30 days Heron was riding shotgun with an older man. That man was an appraiser & construction inspector. This was on the job training for Heron.
Well, so happens that this training instructor was also an actor in small
stage productions of Shakingspear. And yes, Heron remembered many of the 'lines' from the works of Shakingspear. Still remember a few.
This man was an excellent training instructor and Heron completed the course in one month. Some sort of record for new hires at that banco.
More fun at Rydel High...!

Current temp here is a whooping 24°F, that's negative 4°C to you, Lady Dom.
We got dumped with 10 to 12 inches of the white junk. Yay. Not. Better then southern Illinois, which got a heavy ice storm, so we've still go power.
Temps are not going to make it above freezing until Sunday and the high temp for that day is 33°F so not much of a warm up! HAHA
Fingers crossed the snow is over with for a bit, so they can get all that's here cleared out. Tho with these temps we've got coming it's not going to be easy.
As per usual, Silver Bullet made nice work of the driveway, which was drifted about 2 foot deep. Got out, got back in for lunch and got back out. No problems. I do have to drive Ed tomorrow as Dad has a doctor's appointment. I anticipate no problems with Ed and her four wheel drive either, lol.
Fruit, poor C.A.T., he just wants outside to survey his kingdom! I had to shovel a path for Peanut yesterday evening, so he could go out and pee.
Ahh, Shirls, congratulations on Mazzy. She'll keep you on your toes, for sure!
01-06-2025 09:16 PM
A huge welcome to Mazzy - let us know when she is home Shirls.
OK - been total on ' suing the Council ' - getting there.
It will be their New Year's Gift.

As I predicted, Ed navigated the unplowed driveway just fine. She'll do just as fine getting into dad's plowed driveway. His neighbor did the plowing but I've still got a couple of drifts to get rid of so he can actually get out of the house.
Spent about 20 minutes shoveling the drifts in between the jeeps last nite, then I hit a wall and all of me hurt and I was SO tired. I assume it's from the shoveling. I have no idea how the Plumber shovels like that on a daily basis and his is mostly mud!
My poor, poor Peanutty is NOT a fan of this snow. He keeps looking for a snow free area to poo. So far he has not found one. It would have been even funnier to watch him run back and forth looking for a spot if it had not been about 6° this am when he's trying to find just the right spot. He's got no problems peeing on the snow drifts, tho!

My.....you've been very...."thirsty".

Maybe you should build some extra shelves, Dom.
Give them heck at the Council.
Fredi and Fruit, do not send me any snow.
People around here, some of them are wanting it. Not me.
Shirley, going to be a big difference at your house.
You really better shut off the doll room lest you see Mazzy come strolling into the living room chewing on Stinky.
Heron, you sure have come across some interesting people and situations.
I know California is having fires again. Hope none of it is near you.
Looks bad.
We're under another freeze warning. Will be glad when Spring gets here.
Well, today is my birthday. It has been sunny, and that was nice.
It may have warmed up to 50.
Neice and her husband came by the house with some donuts and birthday greetings.
Sis called me earlier and said happy birthday.
Got birthday messages too.
So it's been a busy day.
Gonna give Husband's phone back.
Stay warm/cool.

Going to get down to 16* tonight. Friday expecting 4-6" of white stuff.
LOL at the swear jars!
Picked Mazzy up yesterday afternoon from the Humane Society. Was able to get her in earlier vs going on 13th for spay job. She is doing quite well as far as recovery is concerned, but it has not impeded her being a little imp. She's very loveable, but a sneaky little dickens. She keeps attacking my Sago Palm, which is not good...read they are poisonous. I sprayed it with bitter apple and that seems to deter her, but probably best to find another location for the plant. Mazzy has adopted Rootie the Beagle's bed. She loves it. Bugger kept me up most of the night getting into stuff. Her first use of the litter box was interesting....she rolled in it and then scratched it out of the pan and all over the floor. Knocked over one of the Tiki carvings and broke the spear...she dips her paw into the plant water can and then licks the water from her paw. She spent the whole morning looking out the windows and watching birds. Luckily, I did relocate a number of plants as figured she would want to do this.
First photo: My surgery site. I'm supposed to be quiet, but I have not been.
2nd photo: My angelic little self in Rootie the beagle's bed. I'm so blessed. I have Sadie's Condo and Myah's toys and scratching post which I actually use!!
3rd photo: I have a water dish(one I can see myself in) but I like this method of hydration better.

Ahhh Shirls, she's a charmer for sure! My cats also like to drink from my plant watering can. And the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink, but not the toilet (I do keep the lid down, Lily is the clutziest cat I've ever had, after twice of falling into the toilet bowl, I made it a mission to keep the lid down!)
HAHAHAHAHA Cathy, are you sure you don't need a care package? I've a lot of extra snow laying around! Our high temp yesterday was 24° and our low was 8°. We're supposed to be getting more snow over nite tonite and tomorrow during the day. I can't wait. Might get up to 3 inches. Or just a skiff. Or 14 feet, no one knows! HAHA
As I drove to work this morning, I noticed a semi truck and trailer in the neighbor's ditch/front yard. Not sure how that happened, but it was very strange to see it. All our side streets are still snow packed, and I'm guessing that's why he slide off the road. But no idea where he was going, there's nothing down that road that a grain trailer would be going to!

Ha ha! Fredi, right now the only good thing going for this cat is her looks😂 My 'plethora of adornments' in this house is too stimulating for the curious feline. She still has all 9 of her lives left, so we are doing good!😉 Not opening another room until she has had her fill of the kitchen, living room, and spare bathroom. Little bugger did sleep with me(on the couch) until around 3:30am whereby she decided to do some more exploration of the 'higher places' 🙄 She is eyeballing the ceiling fans right now.......

Feliz Cumpleanos Cathy...! (Happy Birthday)... Well, so far most of 'our' coastal area has been outside the fire zone. The fire situation right now in L.A. County is the worst Heron has seen. And that includes the 1961 fires in L.A. county. Really terrible situation. Especially with the winds.
We had winds gusting up to 40-50 MPH. Today is a calmer day and perhaps the firefighters can make some headway in putting out the fires.
Yes, the past week has been stressful. And really bad for many residents.
