Re: Prayer Request Thread

Jesus sat upon the mount And healed whoever came,  the blind the deaf, the ill, and people weak and lame.

I had almost given up myself! So I had heart to turn to Him to ask Him to heal me, for He who healed the crippled and made the blind to see.

He has also reach out His own hand to make my sorrows fade;
I now need only bow my head in prayer and He’ll come to my aid.

Thank you Lord

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Why is it important to study the various characters in the Bible

Answer:
The Bible is filled with characters, literally and figuratively. Perhaps the best way to describe how the Bible portrays its characters is human because they are, in fact, human. Even though lately I am not so sure of the Democrats! The Bible is true and the people that inhabit its pages were real people with real problems, just like us. The Bible does not shy away from presenting both the strengths and weaknesses of those it portrays. This makes the characters in the Bible "practical" in the sense that we can relate to them and educational in the sense that we can learn from their successes and failures.

Adam and Eve were disobedient blame-shifters. Abraham was a liar. Jacob was a schemer. Joseph had somewhat of the "I'm better than you" attitude. Moses made excuses. Saul was jealous. David was an adulterer. Solomon was the smartest fool in the history of the world. Elijah seemed to be somewhat bi-polar. Peter definitely had "foot-in-mouth" disease. The list goes on and on. No matter your personality and struggles, there is someone in the Bible you can relate to and learn from.

The Apostle Paul wrote, "Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ" (1 Corinthians 11:1). Ultimately, that must be our goal when we study Bible characters. Where they were successful in following God, we are to emulate them. Where they failed, we are to avoid making the same mistakes. "Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did...These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us...No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it" (1 Corinthians 10:6-13).

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Roy -- Politics, in my opinion, is not the answer. Repenting and turning to God is. The great revivals started with people repenting of their sins.

I'm so glad that you are enjoying the beautiful weather. We enjoy the weather very early in the morning. It turns HOT in the afternoon. Dad use to tell me MORNINGS were the best part of the day!

Jimmy -- Good to see your posts. Prayers for the legal matter.

Lynn -- Glad to hear Ike and the cat are okay.

Roxie -- How is Gary?

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Hello dear ones!

Thanks all for prayers & Carole for posting praise reports. 🙂

Gary is "miraculously" doing better, thank You God! He is able to get up & walk around now & feeling better. Todd will be going out to MI again for a vacation at his cabin & to spend more time w/ his dad.

My eye dr put me on a low steroidal ointment for my eyes. He said I have dermatitis on the lids. The ointment is helping already. I'm so grateful for the way God has been with me & now using my eye dr to help & for the other things God has been doing thru this season. I had to get over mySELF more & haven't been able to wear eye make-up for a while now. Somehow it's just not as important any more & my focus is even more on God. He loves me as I am. My value is in Him, not in how well I can make myself look. 😄 thank You God!!!

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Roy, I love those examples in the bible.  Every time people had other Gods or disobeyed God in any way they got themselves into big trouble.  Every time they either sought God and obeyed, or repented and turned back to God, they were extremely blessed.  God asks us to love Him, love others and to follow and obey Him.  He also gives us the Holy Spirit to help us.  How awesome of a life He has to offer us!!  I know I can't do any of these things He asks unless I stay very close to Him in His word, in fellowship with other believers, prayer, worship, listening to Him and responding in obedience as His Spirit is at work in me.  What an awesome God we have!!  Such a precious relationship with Him as opposed to just obeying rules.  😄  Very lively, exciting, incredible and refreshing!!

Lynn, I found a different way to "reply", as opposed to how I used to do it.  Upper left corner of the page, where it says "reply", when I hit that, the reply box shows up w/ the options included, unless I'm on my iphone.   I hope this helps!

I understand what your saying Roy, and agree with you about all the characters in the Bible, most will say why waste your time studying them. I say why not, It's my Christain faith. Believe me Jesus is a living God and  left us with living examples.

Let's ask God in Christ Jesus to grant us understanding. Amen

Roy -- Happy Father's Day! Hope you enjoyed the day.

Jimmy -- Happy Father's Day! Take the day off.

Roxie -- I'm glad you are getting better. God has given us doctors to help us. I quit using eye make-up. It doesn't seem important any more. I do use lipstick and eye brow pencil.

Praise God about Gary!

Adrian -- You are a beautiful lady! I know this for sure -- I can read it in your posts.

My SIL-Carolee came to visit. She looks so rested and healthy.

Her hip is recovered from the fall. She drove her by herself from California. She is an answer to our prayers here on the PRT.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Hope you all had a great Fathers Day!! 😄

Carole & Adrian, thanks for the encouragement a about eye make-up. I went to church yesterday without eye make-up & it was freeing! Who we are "In Christ" is the most important thing.

Roy & Jimmy, I think 1 Corinthians 10:11 is a scripture that supports us studying about the people in the bible. God inspired the people who wrote the words in the bible. So God put the people in there for a reason. 🙂

Yesterday we had a guest speaker at church. Charlie Campbell. He has studied the reasons to trust bible for 20. He does a great job! He has a website, "always be ready", connect the words & add .com. Fascinating!!
