Hello Janice & Everyone,
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving
The time we know we’re supposed to express our thankfulness to God. The Scriptures remind us often of this truth; 1 Thessalonians 5:18, for example, tells us, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Psalm 9:1 says, “I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds.”
But have you thought about why we should be thankful to God?
Being thankful compels me to fix my eyes on God rather than on myself. It humbles me. It lifts my mind off my troubles and anxieties and reminds me that God will always provide for my needs, and that “for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
Being thankful lifts my spirit.
As you approach Thanksgiving, here’s one way to cultivate a thankful heart: Spend time listing God’s blessings in your life. And don't stop until you've listed at least 10-15. The exercise will force you to think creatively about God’s care and provision—even in small things.
My family and friends who make my life so rich with joy.
My wife who continues to demonstrate her love for me in innumerable acts of kindness and caring.
The God-given wisdom of the human soul that knows, deep down, that God is, and that He is good.
The way the snow-covered Mountains glow in the light of a full moon.
The eternal and unchanging promises of God—that I am His and He is mine, now and forever.
That there is a sure day coming when I will know Him fully, just as I have been known, and I will see Him face to face.
This year’s Thanksgiving you can see the power of thanking and praising God.
That on restless nights when I cannot sleep I know that I am not abandoned or forgotten by the One who created me, who loves me perfectly and knows me perfectly.
That the clouds moving outside my window are a gift from God, sent to remind me of the vastness of the universe.
That when I don’t know how to pray, God’s Spirit intercedes for me with feelings too deep for words.
That it is not my job to fix the universe or my kids
That a pine tree flooded with warm summer sunlight and smelling of the richness of the mountains can bring to mind a lifetime of wonderful memories.
That life is short and long, sweet and difficult, all at the same time.
That we are not meant to understand everything.
That God does not allow us to see the future—it would be overwhelming.
That every heartache has meaning, and no sin and no sinner is beyond the reach of His redeeming love.
That His purpose prevails.
That an early morning walk can be all I really want or need; it is enough simply because God walks with me when I can.
That no matter how much I thank Him, I can’t thank Him enough. That no matter how much I worship Him, I cannot worship Him enough. That’s what eternity is for …
Love to All

Historys Thanksgiving Proclamation
Issued by President George Washington, at the request of Congress, on October 3, 1789
By the President of the United States of America, a Proclamation.
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and—Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favor, able interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other trangressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand at the City of New York the third day of October in the year of our Lord 1789.
Go. Washington
President George Washington proclaimed Thursday the 26th of November 1789 a day of “public thanksgiving and prayer” devoted to “the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be.” Reflecting American religious practice, Presidents and Congresses from the beginning of the republic have from time to time designated days of fasting and thanksgiving (the Thanksgiving holiday we continue to celebrate in November was established by Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and made into law by Congress in 1941).
In setting aside a day for Thanksgiving, Washington established a non-sectarian tone for these devotions and stressed political, moral, and intellectual blessings that make self-government possible, in addition to personal and national repentance. Although the First Amendment prevents Congress from establishing a religion or prohibiting its free exercise, Presidents, as well as Congress, have always recognized the American regard for sacred practices and beliefs. Thus, throughout American history, Presidents have offered non-sectarian prayers for the victory of the military and in the wake of catastrophes. Transcending passionate quarrels over the proper role of religion in politics, the Thanksgiving Proclamation reminds us how natural their relationship has been. While church and state are separate, religion and politics, in their American refinement, prop each other up.

Good morning!
Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
It is currently 8 degrees out there and my little dog refuses to wear a coat. Somehow, she manages to get it off outside. Choopie always liked the coat on cold or rainy (it has a hood) days. I just gave Cami the big ham bone from dinner last night. I think it weighs as much as she does. I can hear her heading this way with it and she keeps dropping it.
We had a wonderful family dinner at Melanie & Bob's with everything you would expect to be on the table. My youngest daughter and MIL are staying at her place until Sunday. I was tired so came home a little after 10pm and watched yet another Christmas movie and fell asleep. Ike will also be be back here on Sunday as rifle deer season closes tomorrow. It is then muzzleloader season, but he stays here and just goes out to hunt.
No PT today because of the holiday, so I will go back on Monday.
Melanie is 32 today and my other daughter, Lisa, made her brownie cupcakes and I am going to make a pan of brownies for her and bring them over later on. Her oven is not working properly and you cannot make brownies in it and she loves them. We would have celebrated her birthday last night but her main present from us is supposed to come in the mail today. I read the tracking slip and it was odd. It came UPS and arrived in my town Wednesday, but was delivered to our post office and my mailman will bring it today. He usually gets here around 11am. I am also expecting one of Alli's Christmas presents to arrive today.
Nothing new here. When Ike makes it home, he will get out the few Christmas things I put up. I cannot do a big tree anymore so I put one of those LED trees that keep changing color in each window and I saved a few smaller but nice Santa's from my collection that I passed on to Melanie next to each tree. The trees are all different. Some are plan, but some have stars and one has light-up ornaments and the one that goes in my room is extra bushy and white. Outside, we have 4 different sizes of those spiral trees, all in clear lights and three globes of clear lights that hang out by the attached garage. I put a Chistmas arrangement on the dining room table and that is it. I still have a lot to pass on to the girls.
Was up several times during the night and am going back to take a nap.
Have a beautiful day! ![]()

Good morning everyone!
Keeping all prayer requessts.
Roxie - I still thinki it is funny that you are ending up in NV, down the road from where I would like to winter. Will you be living with your son?
It is a lot warmer today. 32 and no wind. The part for the stove finally arrived yesterday and Ike put it in last night. He is done hunting and will be here soon. When he gets here, he can get my Christmas stuff out so I can do what little decorating that I do these days. He has a few things to put outside.
I have still done nothing except watch Christmas movies. Hallmark has 12 new movies this year alone. We also get the UP channel which has a lot of movies and also the reruns of that old show "Touched By an Angel" which I love. With just me being here, there has not been much to do, although there is still stuff that I should do.
Time to get dressed and do something. I might have enough clothes to put in a load of wash.
Have a most beautiful day! ![]()

Good morning, Everyone. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Lynn, thank you for the funny Thanksgiving "card". Hubby and I both got a charge out of it.
Prayers requested for my mother in-law, Lola. She was up the whole night with a fever and her arm is red and hot. She will be going in to the hospital this morning. This is not the first time thius has happened.
Also, I have been having lower back pain for two days now (it got really bad late yesterday). Had to take some Alleve so I could sleep. My right knee has also been giving me trouble. Guess I'll be making a visit to my spine specialist soon. Hubby wants me to wait until my "Obamacare" goes through, but I don't know if I can wait. Depends on how the pain is. I have so much to do this week and the church Christmas pageant is this Sunday night.

Bill and I had a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner and celebration with three single friends. God surrounds us with singles. Bill didn't mind being the only male there.
Two of the friends hosted and cooked the delicious meal. They even took account for my restricted diet.

Just wanted to give you all an update on my mother in law. Spoke to my sister in-law and my MIL is in the hospital. She's on an IV drip. Her fever is gone but her arm looks horrible - black, blue, red and swollen. It's her lymph nodes and is due to her cancer treatment several years ago. She knows she will be having bouts of this. She has to go to the hospital each time.
