Re: Prayer Request Thread

Thank you all for the kind words and encouragement. I am trying to be thankful.  It was either today or tomorrow in a hit and run accident I almost died so that should give me much gratitude but I decay. Lots of anger, lots of issues. Hoping somehow he understands. Trying to get back into my ebay so I can get my mind on other stuff than my drama. I wish you happy holidays.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Deb - I was once at such a low point, I did not know what I was going to do or if I even wanted to go on.  Another former poster here posted this for me and I will post it for you.  It is good to remember this.  When things get dark, it makes me remember.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Thanks, Lynn.

That song is very uplifting.

I have found that Christmas, especially, has become so commercialized, and sadly, Jesus is ignored.

Christians need each other to lean on and pray with.

Thank you for thinking of me. It means more than you'll know.

Deb, Jesus does understand. He will give you peace that surpasses all understanding. Ebay is great therapy. I want to start selling again too.

Anger is sometimes hard to let go of, so don't get down on yourself.

You are precious in His sight.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

As we all embark on the upcoming holidays, let us remember all those in NY and NJ who have lost everything.

Those of us that have a hard time during the rushing and running around, let's take some quiet time to reflect on the good.

Stress can creep in and wreak havoc.

Relax, take a deep breath and clear your minds.

Music is wonderful to praise God and rest IN HIM.

Enjoy.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Forgiveness: Letting go of grudges and bitterness
When someone you care about hurts you, you can hold on to anger, resentment and thoughts of revenge — or embrace forgiveness and move forward. Generally, forgiveness is a decision to let go of resentment and thoughts of revenge. The act that hurt or offended you might always remain a part of your life, but forgiveness can lessen its grip on you and help you focus on other, positive parts of your life. Forgiveness can even lead to feelings of understanding, empathy and compassion for the one who hurt you.
Some will even go so far to tell lies about others that they think has hurt them!

 First
Matthew 7:1-6
Judge not, that ye be not judged.
For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you..

Second to bear false witness!

The Ninth Commandment reads
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Exodus 20:16

Deuteronomy 19:16-21 If a false witness rises against any man to testify against him of wrongdoing, then both men in the controversy shall stand before Yahweh, before the priests and the judges who serve in those days. And the judges shall make careful inquiry, and indeed, if the witness is a false witness, who has testified falsely against his brother, then you shall do to him as he thought to have done to his brother; so you shall put away the evil from among you. And those who remain shall hear and fear, and hereafter they shall not again commit such evil among you. Your eye shall not pity: life shall be for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.

To hold a grudge only hurts the holder. For yourself as well as with God.

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.
. . . Amen . . . photo thmysign.jpg

Roy - You are right in that holding a grudge only hurts the one that holds it.  The other goes on about life not worrying about who he or she might have hurt.  That is why I forgive and move on.  I even managed to do this with the monster who molested my daughter when she was 5-years-old.  It does not mean I ever have to be his friend again.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Forgiving yourself can be much harder than forgiving someone else. When you're carrying around a sense of blame for something that has happened in the past, this bundle of negativity burrowing deep into yourself can cause a never-ending, pervasive sense of unhappiness. Forgiving yourself is an important act of moving forward and releasing yourself from the past. It's also a way of protecting your health and general well-being.

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Wrong Doers from the Qur'an

I will start you off with a handful of quotes from the Qur'an. I can go on for pages but there isn't the space here. I will ignore the Hadiths (with such wonderful quotes as "If a woman's conduct is mischievous or immodest, the husband has the right to beat her up but must not break her bones" TR. P 439) and will stick to the divine infallible word of Allah through Prophet Mohammed.
Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another. Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number. Allah does not guide the wrong-doers. 5:51

Mohammed is Allah's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another. 48:29

Those who resist Allah and his messenger will be humbled to dust. 58:5

As for those who disbelieve and deny Our revelations, they are the heirs of Hell. 5:10

...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: Allah will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them... 9:12

Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their Home: an evil fate. 9:73

Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and Allah's religion shall reign supreme. 8:36

Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. 9:121

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last day, nor hold the forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and his messenger, nor acknowledge the Religion of Truth from among the People of the Book, until they pay the Jiziyah with willing submission. And feel themselves subdued. 9:29

It is He who has sent forth His apostle with guidance and the true Faith Islam

Is this where the world is being allowed to go?

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Jesus,

Made it very clear many times in the Gospels, and also in the Lord’s Prayer, that we show our love for Him in how we treat other people, and that He will forgive us as much as we forgive them. Also, we must not poison our relationships with others by being too proud to apologize when we have wronged them.

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

As our Lord instructed His Apostles the night before His Passion, we are to “love one another, as I have loved you …by this shall all men know that you are my disciples”

John 13:34-35. He meant for us to love each other, warts and all!

Do you know someone who just has to be right about everything? Are you like that?

Also, how much does it (or even should it) matter who has the bigger car, house, or wallet? Don’t forget the emotional, physical, as well as spiritual toll envy and resentment can have on us. Even the small grudges we carry around with us can feel like 50 pound weights after a while!

Although the Act of Love prayer invites us to think of “we” in a world of “me,” it is important for us to love ourselves as children of God seeking to do His work by sharing His love and goodness! We must avoid the kind of prideful self-love in which we’re always looking out for #1, thinking only of ourselves.

Remember Love for All

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Why are you quoting the Qur'an?  (It was the Koran when I was in school.)

I have forgiven myself, as well, when I know that I have wronged another.  I also try and make amends, if possible.  Forgiveness, always goes both ways, and by not doing it, whatever bad there is just sits and festers.  I can truly say that whenever I feel I have been wronged or I have wronged another, I have not stayed silent but have contacted the other person and hashed things out.  There may have not been an agreement but I always take the road that allows me to agree to disagree, forgive and go on with my life.  There are too many important things I have left to do to be mired down by cluttering my mind thinking someone is thinking bad thoughts about me.

Lynn,

It seems as you are taking my posts personally? They are just my occasional rambling. Not aimed at anyone just for everyone.

Sorry you feel you have to forgive yourself!

I feel love for you as I do for all posters, lurkers past and present.

I believe the PRT has helped my life by the prayers I have received and also given for others.
