Hope you all had a great day yesterday!  I was at the church grounds from noon to about 8:00 pm.  There was a wonderful string of concerts all day, and lots of food and great fellowship!  Very sweet, fun and touching!!!!!  Kathy and I got to see many displays of fireworks on our way home.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

God doesn’t call the qualified, but rather he qualifies the called.

Paul put it this way: For you are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared for us to do.

God blesses us so that we can bless others. His goal isn’t just to rescue us from sin, but for us to join him in his work of restoring the world. God wants to make us into the kind of being that he is. God became a man so that we could become godly. Just as the Father gave up the Son for us and sent his Spirit to empower us, so also do we lay down our lives and empower others through the gifts that God has given us. We are God’s ambassadors, joining him in reconciling the world.

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.
. . . Amen . . . photo thmysign.jpg

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Between my online studies with the Koinonia Institute (KI) and my mother's 100th birthday party I've been really busy. I'm currently in only one class, the first half of Genesis. Dr. Missler spent the first eight weeks of Genesis covering the six days of creation. There was a heavy emphasis on physics but it was very interesting. This week we're covering the fall of man. Next week I start the first half of the book of Revelation. A few weeks ago I finished a very difficult course, Intro to Strategic Trend Briefings I601. That said I recommend KI as a wonderful source of in depth Bible study and a means of being very up to date on world events.

It's hard to believe but I've been with my mom now for nearly 6 months. We've settled into a good routine and the demand on my time is limited. She still has her care-giver coming in twice a week. I'm here mostly to see that she gets her meals and gets to her doctor appointments. I know some of you were praying for us and it helped tremendously thank you. Mom is a trooper and mentally sound, more so than many people far younger than her.

This week I was taking only one course on KI so I fell into the eBay soapbox once again. It's like a moth drawn to a fire. Statements such as I'm a Christian but I don't believe that Bible stuff blows my mind. In several threads I have posted the website listing the prophecies of the coming of the Messiah in the Old Testament in the fulfillment in the New Testament by Jesus. I pointed out that the Septuagint was completed nearly 300 years before the birth of Jesus. I referred the other soapboxers to lots of good information should they truly be seeking. I do seem to reach a few of the posters, however and in my opinion, the majority have denied Jesus for so long that I wonder if they will ever be brought into the kingdom.

I feel rather like the man holding the sign saying "the end is near" and being considered not wrapped tightly enough.

Please pray for the salvation of the many unbelievers on the soapbox. Also, I need your prayers for clarity of purpose. Do I play in the soapbox as an ego thing or am I doing God's work. I pray that it has more to do with the Great Commission that we were given 2000 years ago.

Thank you and God bless and happy ninth birthday coming up in a few days.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Sally,

This may help. Go to a place you feel most comfortable, relax and and ask Jesus. Sincerly pray for guidance. I believe this will help to give you your answers.

Have a great day.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Roy -- I so enjoy your posts. The bird was so cute.

Roxie -- What is the picture of...??? Looks to me like a man in dark glasses touching his rather large nose with his finger.

Sounds like you had a beautiful fourth of July. Bill and I went to a customer/friend's house for brunch. It was delicious. Fun to see how they used the furniture to decorate their home.

Sally -- I'm so proud of you for studying the Bible! We have a prophecy DVD by Dr. Missler -- so interesting.

Hope your Mom had a happy birthday celebration -- 100 years young and still sharp as a tack.

Prayers for you in your effort to share the love of God to others.

Roger -- How wonderful to see you again!

Diane -- Prayers for your husband's health and the financial side of it.

Jaime -- Prayers continue for your job.

Ginny -- What a beautiful transition from this life to everlasting life in a beautiful Paradise, reward, gift!

Jan -- Prayers continue for you and Hugh. Prayers for your dental work as well.

Bill Update: Now both of his feet are sore. When he got his nose biopsied, he also got a place on his eye brow.

The eye brow spot is showing cancer. He will have to have the spot surgically removed.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Roy, post # 8888, soooooooo right on!!!  Love all the 8's too.  🙂  Hoping to get some time this week-end to watch the videos you have been posting.  I like what you told Sally.  I simply do NOT want to do anything any more unless I get quiet and alone, like Jesus always did with theh Father, to connect with Him and hear His guidance and wisdom that He promises to give to us liberally.

Sally, bless your heart that God is using you so to study His word in depth and to tell the world around you about Him.  We can pray, pray, pray and speak as God leads, and the rest is up to God that they get watered and He gets them into the kingdom.  Keep it up!  I always love to tell the story that the day I gave my life to God... you would have not known the day before, or even the hour or minutes before, that was what was going to happen.  🙂 Thanks for the update about your dear mom!!  I will pray for those on the soapbox along with the poster on the bible thread.  And for you for clarity of purpose.  Good for your for keeping yourself in check.

Carole, lol, the picture is supposed to be of a flag with a smiley face on it with sunglasses on.  It came out too big and fuzzy tho.  Thanks for keeping us updated on Bill.  Does this mean he has to lose his eyebrow?  I might get to have something new to make fun of him about!  🙂  And I will, you know I will!

Diane, hi there!  Words of wisdom from you!

Re: Prayer Request Thread

After my rather lengthy post last night I read something on the rapture ready website that seemed to confirm what I'm doing over on the soapbox. Then I had another confirmation from another source. However it was late and I was tired so maybe I misinterpreted them, I don't know and in any event I've taken the day off from the soapbox.

Finding a quiet place and spending quiet moments with God is a good suggestion crajis deals but very difficult in my current situation,. Five years ago my mother moved into an assisted care facility. Her mobile home was rented out to an older man who had a younger man named Albert living with him as a part-time caregiver. The older man passed away about the same time my mother was hoping to get out of the assisted care so she moved back home and inherited Albert. Albert works full-time and is here nights, plus he helps with meals. The mobile has a bedroom and a bathroom on either end of it, a perfect set up for two people. As the third person in this equation I sleep on the couch in the middle of the mobile. I set up a little office space in the area. I'm making the best of the situation.  I've been here nearly six month and I'm here as long as my mother needs me. Unfortunately I'm a person who likes quiet and the situation here is anything but with people coming in and out and the phone ringing.

Believe me it's not all bad as my mother and I get along quite well. I try to stay positive so she won't be upset. I don't see any other way than staying with her. She is virtually blind and uses a walker full-time in the house and a wheelchair when going out.

God put me here so I have to trust in him, meanwhile thanks for your prayers.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

And Isaac went out to meditate in the fields at eventide (Gen. 24:63).

We should be better Christians if we were more alone; we should do more if we attempted less, and spent more time in quiet waiting upon God. The world is too much with us; we are afflicted with the idea that we are doing nothing unless we are fussily running to and fro we do not believe in the calm, the silent shade. As a people, we are of a very practical turn of mind we believe, in having all our irons in the fire, and consider the time not spent between the anvil and the fire as lost. Yet no time is more profitably spent than that which is set apart for quiet for talking with God, for looking up to Heaven. We cannot have too many of these open spaces in life, Minutes or even hours in which the soul is left accessible to any sweet thought or influence it may please God to send.

"Reverie, is the Sunday of the mind. Let us often in these days give our mind a Sunday, in which it will do no manner of work but simply lie still, and look upward, and spread itself out before the Lord like Gideon's fleece, to be soaked and moistened with the dews of Heaven. Let there be intervals when we shall do nothing, think nothing, plan nothing, but just lay ourselves on the green lap of nature and rest for awhile.

Time so spent is not lost time. The fisherman cannot be said to be losing time when he is mending his nets, nor the mower when he takes a few minutes to sharpen his scythe at the top of the ridge. City folks cannot do better than follow the example of Isaac and as often as they can, get away from the fret of life into fields or any place you feel comfortable. Communion with nature is very grateful; it will have a calming, healing influence. A walk through the fields, a saunter by the seashore or across the daisy-sprinkled meadows, will purge your life from sordidness, and make the heart beat with new joy and hope.

The little cares that fretted me, I lost them,
. . . Out in the fields with God.

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Troubled Times

Most people turn to God only when they are in trouble. Regular time with the Lord will change this pattern to thanks for joy and good things, too.
One perfect place to spend time with the Lord is before the Troubled times come.

If you do this you will be able to deal with trouble easier if it does ever come again!

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Quiet Time

Quiet time may be any solitary time, taking a bath or enjoying a big bowl of ice cream when yor alone. Quiet time with the Lord is when you put the Lord in your heart. All you need is a Bible, time, and quiet. If you put aside some moments for contemplation, your life will be filled with blessings.

Quiet time offers you the opportunity to commune with God without any external interferences.

Lord,
I ask you to be with all my friends now.
I believe you will hear this prayer it is from my heart.
I have faith in you to heal my friends.
Nourish them in their time of suffering and comfort them with your presence.
