For our lifetime is the passing of a shadow: and our dying cannot be deferred because it is fixed with a seal: and no one returns. Wisdom 2:5

Love.
I can't stress this enough. When you learn to love yourself you have accomplished one of the most significant points in your life. We are busy beating up on ourselves for what we don't have or did not do. Instead of appreciating and cherishing what we do have. When we learn to love ourselves we learn to love others. Which in turn places us in harmony with the universe and causes less friction in our lives.
Just feel good about yourself!
Roy,
"Loving ourselves" is not what is important. Loving God and others next is the order.
I had feelings of low self-worth until God taught me how much HE loved me. When I saw the love he had for me, I realized I was worth a lot to Him!!!
With the confidence, only God can give, I did not need to worry about what people thought -- only what God thought.
2 Timothy 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

I agree that loving God is most important. You mention Others there is several mentions in the bible this is only one.
Mark 12:31
And the second is this : `Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these.”
How can you love your neighbor as yourself if you do not love yourself?

Thank you for the Scriptures for Jim and the rest of us.
The speaker was Cheryl Brodersen, Pastor Chuck's daughter. How wonderful! His wife must be a dear woman as well.

For the Christian, death is a beautiful reunion with Jesus.
One day, we will return to this earth, with a new resurrected body, and fight the enemy of our soul. When the enemy is defeated, we will live on a new earth and a new heaven. Heaven will come down to earth.
This will be forever and ever!
Gary

I do think that you were talking about having confidence in ourselves because of what God is doing in our lives.
I know you did not mean selfishness or loving ourselves above others.

I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Most people love themselves MORE than others.
There are exceptions. I believe you are talking about those that have been so beaten up from the enemy (of our souls) and others that they do not have the proper respect for themselves to even consider themselves loved or loveable.
This is important to realize each person is LOVED by God. Each soul is loved. Each person is of GREAT importance to God.
If I concentrate on loving myself, I become selfish and self-centered. The more selfish and self-centered, I become, others want nothing to do with me.
If I concentrate on others and their needs, I think less of myself and my needs.
.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God:
I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

We are all here on this earth together. I do not feel like I am better than anyone. That is God;s job.
Anyone that concentrates on loving their self would have a terribly lonely life! We must love one another as Jesus loves us all and not just a few.
To consider others before myself is very pleasing to me. I have never concentrated on loving myself, Anyone that would will become selfish and self-centered. I would not want anything to do with me if I were ever that way!
I must admit in my life I have met people I want nothing to do with. Not because I feel any better or above but because they have done things that I consider wrong.

You mentioned Young's Farm. Every year for several years I would buy a Hog, Corn on the Cob, Potatoes and other vegetables from them for the 4th of July. I would pit barbecue it all for 24 hours and dig it up the evening of the fourth.
We always invited anyone that wanted to come for the celebration. No cost just requested them to bring a side dish or desert.
It finally got so big that it was a problem so I quit.
A lot of great memories.

His son was Congressman Bob Stump the VA Hospital in Prescott now bears his name. It was part of old Fort Whipple originally.

Hi Roger, man oh man--- 5+. Hope you are watching your salt intake, and I'm glad your feeling better. Ya know Rog, I was thinking of the days when I would go bull head fishing, and just wait for the bite. Sure miss it. It was 50 years ago, and yet I can remember it like it was yesterday. The only other thing I can remember like that was the frist time I laid my eyes on my wife, just turned 17. It's been 43 years now. In June I'll be 60 year old, got a wife, 4 kids, 9 grand kids and 3 great grand kids, 2 dogs and 3 cats.
Thats my family. Praise God.
Jimmy
