Hi, ALL, and a good Sunday morning to all of you!
Has anyone noticed how the market value / public interest seems to have gone up in the last few weeks / months on wooden (genuine) ANRI chess sets? Even a wooden ANRI Universum set in a cardboard box - with some damage to a major piece - is currently in the mid $150 range! (See ebay item #150150901537). Yes... I was an inital bidder, but I doubt if I will bid any higher than what the current bid is at...
My guess is that market values - like this - go up and down according to the "season", as well as the rise and fall of folks interested in chess sets... you know... maybe some newcomers to the field of chess and other collecting. Maybe someone looking at it as a potential investment for the future... Maybe someone just likes this particular design, despite the absence of a higher "quality" wooden box that wooden ANRI sets usually come in...?
I guess the reasons for interest in these sets might be as many as - if not more than - the current number of bidders.
Any response from anyone on my comments? Any speculation on the seeming recent increase in market value in ANRI chess sets? (I have not, myself, gone back and taken a look at the history of realized prices at auctions, including ebay... but it is just my sense of what has been happening...)
