Re: What can I do?

@an-productions  As a new seller, you will have listing limits.  They are often 10 items and $500 a month for the first 90 days but that can vary some.

Do NOT open a store to start with as it will not increase your new seller limits.

I suggest you not open a store until you are able to list at least 250 items so you can use all of the listings you will pay for.

Your selling limits will not increase until:
It's been more than 90 days since your first successful sale.
You've had more than 25 transactions and $250 in sales.

We’ll review your account every month and adjust the limits automatically based on your sales volume and the feedback you’ve received from buyers.

When you’re comfortable fulfilling your orders, and have a good track record with customers and with following our policies, most specific category limits will automatically be removed. However, other limits may apply depending on the categories you list in.

Welcome to eBay! There are a lot of things you can do to build your eBay business. This isn't everything by no means. Other sellers will add to your post.

 Here are a few:

- Provide good customer service. Treat buyers how you want to be treated!

- Do research to see what others maybe are selling the same items for.

- Post clear nice pictures, you get up to 12 free. Pictures can show the item's condition better. Don't use anyone else’s pictures.

- Write a good title and description. Be sure to note any flaws. The more detailed your description the less chance of a buyer filing a not as described case. I even show pictures of the flaws.

- Fill in the detail section as much as possible.

- Make sure that your shipping price listed is accurate. You cannot ask the buyer for more money after the sale, if you get it wrong.

- Never sell outside of eBay, for your protection.

- Don't ever agree to send to another address other than the buyers registered address.

- Answer your messages from buyers as soon as possible.

- Look out for scams. Suggest reading eBay's section on scams.

- Always provide and upload tracking.

- Charge reasonable shipping rates.

- Double check your spelling and grammar.

- Be sure to read eBays selling policies.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/selling-policies/selling-policies?id=4214&st=12&pos=5&query=Selli....

- Read eBay's start selling overview; it has some very helpful articles.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/selling/start-selling-ebay?id=4081&st=12&pos=6&query=Start%20selli....

- Be familiar with eBay’s prohibited to sell items.

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/prohibited-restricted-items?id=4207&s....

As a new seller you will have selling limits. eBay does this to make sure that you show that you are a good seller and show a good track record.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/listings/selling-limits?id=4107&st=12&pos=2&query=Selling%20limits....

You will also have to know what trademark items you can't sell. If you list an item that is on the prohibited list, VERO (Verified Rights Owner Program) will get your auction listing closed.

https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/listing-and-marketing/verified-rights-owner-program.html#m17-1-....

Again, this isn't everything. This is only the tip of the iceberg. There are a lot of great folks here that will add to what I started. It is good to hear what everyone has to add.

Start selling cheaper items until you have built up your feedback and this will help get you comfortable selling here. Don't wait, get started soon!

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Re: What can I do?

The hardest part of selling online is shipping.

Bookmark this.

Before you list anything weigh and measure it . Don't Guess.

Use Calculated Shipping.

Don't use the Simplified Sell Your Item Form. You can find the Advanced/Business form at the top right of the Simpleminded one. You don't have to be a "business".

If you have an existing account you have been buying with, use that as your new selling account. Worth it for the Feedback numbers.

Don't buy and sell on the same account. You can have multiple accounts.

If you don't have any buying experience on eBay, buy a few things, from sellers who leave FB on shipment.  Feedback is a signal of competence to buyers.  Poly envelopes are usually useful and cheap.

No Returns does NOT mean No Refunds.  Most unhappy customers are not scamming, they are unhappy with their purchase. Stay professional.

If you are selling clothing (which is a VERY tough category) put the Size in the title and the measurements in the Description.

Re: What can I do?

Follow the advice aforementioned and take care of your customers, you must strive for 100% Positive Feedback, if you make a mistake and there are no alternatives for remedy don't hesitate to loose $$ on the sale to satisfy the buyer.

Keep in mind that eBay is not in your corner as a seller so every chance you have put the screws to eBay because they will inevitably cause you pain and financial loss. Remember eBay is a business, it will do what is best for eBay at your expense. Even though it is not the only show in town eBay is a major player.

Lots of luck and best wishes.

OTOH-  Cookie Jar Insurance.

Most problems are differences of opinion. Don't take them personally.

And put aside a small amount from every sale in a virtual Cookie Jar.

If you need to pay for return shipping, you can pull the cost out of the Cookie Jar.

Basically it is a premium for self-insurance.

And like a 'real' insurance company, it can be a profit centre.

It doesn't work on any single sale, but by the end of the year (the end of the month if all goes well) the loss on a given sale will disappear into the profits from all the others.
