WARNING ABOUT GUIDANT PACEMAKERS

Fifteen months ago, my husband had heart surgery. A triple bypass, valve replacement, and a Guidant Pacemaker with a Defribrillater put in. He virtually had no heartbeat, so was completely dependent on the Pacemaker. During the year, he had several episodes where he was extremely tired. We figured these were just "bad" days. Last week, he got a dizzy spell, and almost passed out. He rested for 5 days, and then went to the doctor`s. Immediately was told to go to the heart center. He had been checking his blood pressure and heart rate everyday, and his pulse was 30. Somehow, God let him survive with this. He was immediately admitted to the hospital, and on Saturday, the replaced the pacemaker. It was defective from the start. The battery died, and almost took him with it. They replaced it with another GUIDANT! Different model number. I looked it up when we got home. It is also defective! After doing further research, I found out that Guidant knows about the defective ones, but hopes that nothing will happen. They were correct in that thought. My husband`s needed it to work, and NOTHING happened! I don`t know what will happen next. But, I wanted to let everyone know about this. I almost lost him again, because of something that was supposed to keep him alive. God kept him alive. He is the only one we can depend on. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AOL now offers free email to everyone.
