Only One Page of Search Results Show on Mobile Firefox

On my mobile Android with Firefox, when I do a search for anything, only the first page will show up. I'll scroll through the first page of items and click to go to the second page, at which point I'm told there are no results. If I try to use the back button to go to that first page of results, it's gone and replaced with "there are no results" there, too.

This has been happening for about 7-10 days, as far as I know. It doesn't happen on Chrome.

First I've seen of the issue on Android, but something similar did occur pretty universally for desktop view a while back (it was something eBay had to fix and eventually did)

Klunky workarounds:

When you do the search and the first page of results shows, try changing the sch part of the URL in the address to dsc and load that page and see if that helps (changes to older search display that has less problems)

Could also try adding &_ipg=100 or &_ipg=200 to the end of the URL (or change value if parameter already present) and see if that helps (forces number of results to 100 or 200 per page)

Both ideas worked at first, thanks! But this morning there's a new twist: the search results come up past the first page BUT you can't click on any items. You can see the list of auctions but clicking does nothing.

Again, this is only on Android Firefox, it works fine on Chrome for Android and the stock browser my phone came with.

Kinda surprised the kludges worked, and not surprised about the dead links.

Not sure what to tell you. Out of ideas, and can't replicate issue (only Android device is an old tablet running Android Gingerbread, and can't be bothered to run emulators under Windows since I really don't give a rat's *ss about Android 🙂

I will say that there are some on and off weirdnesses going on with search lately (besides the redirects, category garbage, etc). Maybe it will shake out or get fixed when they stop messing around with it.

Sorry.

(I'll think on it and maybe something will occur to me or I'll figure out a way to replicate the fail to see.)

Arggh. Dug out the tablet, trying to charge it up, and will see if I can get FF installed on it and if that version 47? even functions with eBay. If it does, will failure replicate?

Ok. got Firefox 47 installed on tablet and played a bit.

(after sign in problems that required logging in with a desktop, resulting in "an unknown device signed in" emails to my desktop client, and then to my phone (that can't #&&%$* be turned off), had to hunt down and sideload the Firefox APK because play store is a &$(*%!. I hate google, gmail, Android, Play store, and I don't know how you people deal with it)

Anyway, Firefox is uselessly slow on this old tablet, but sort of works. eBay search worked fine, and page numbers were there and worked. Unfortunately, I couldn't load any items from search - the links were live, but eBay is deciding that that tablet is a mobile device, and is redirecting all the item pages to the mobile version (https://m.ebay.com.....) which then fail with a Firefox "The page isn't redirecting properly" screen and will not load the item pages.

Did the sch to dsc workaround which caused eBay to load the dsc search, but in a mobile version where the links are not clickable, but each item search result block IS a live link (picture, whitespace, etc) but same as with the other, I get the Firefox "redirecting" fail screen.

So maybe you were getting redirected to the same mobile DSC page and could try just clicking the item search result images and see if the items pages load.

(This exercise has pushed me that much closer to getting an iPhone when I need to finally abandon this abandoned by Microsoft Win10 phone in spite of the hackability of Android) Smiley Sad

BTW, I did run into the unclickable link DSC page issue some time back in Firefox on the desktop, but it went away after a refresh as I recall. Assuming an eBay glitch, instability, or they were "fixing" things again at the time.

Same issue using FF/android. Most likely ebsy is trying to drive mobile users ont a "g00gle-cooperative" browser since theyre in so deep and thick with that outfit

And keep in mind, there ate at least 2 unrelated issues created around the same time for firefox, e.g., bad redirects and corrupted hyperlinks. Coincidence? Not a chance.

Well, the situation has gotten worse for me this morning -- my workaround was to use Chrome and now the problem is happening there, too.

Using variations on the URL as posted above no longer works.

So far I've noticed the following:

* going out to any seller's list of items for sale will work for the first page of results only, but if you try to sort or filter or go to a second page, everything disappears and is replaced with a message that no results are found

* clicking links in my eBay saved search emails takes me to a broken page saying the browser can't redirect

* doing a search directly on the eBay site gives me results but no live links to click on within the results

This is all only on Android mobile, and now on Firefox, Chrome and the stock browser. It doesn't happen on my PC.

I'm off to test other mobile browsers

Okay, I tried a couple of browsers and got different results.

Using one called CM Browser, I could see that there were items for sale on user profiles, but when I clicked the "items for sale" link, nothing came up.

Using Brave Browser, when I clicked "items for sale" I'd get the list of that seller's items, but the items were not clickable.

I don't know enough about Android OS to know what this could possibly be.
