Seeing too many HOF and rookie HOF player cards in all American professional sports being sold well under value (and to emphasis “true value”). Big EBay selling companies are not understanding certain players and value they are selling at less than an American dollar at mint, or near mint. Yes, buyers want the best deal for near nothing, yet you big moron companies are driving down the true values of the love for game and player!!! 99 cents for a rookie HOF NFL Quarterback near mint is **bleep**!! That is what these big companies are distributing and ruining card trading all together!! I am a buyer, so I am thrilled, yet when will the nonsense end with big companies under-cutting true value? Never!! We still buy the Ruth’s and Cobbs, the Trouts and Harpers at 99 cents near-mint!!!

Seriously, when I see 99 cents for a Mike Trout card (without corner breaks, edge issues, maybe surfaces scratches) I jump all over it on “buy it now”, in fact bid up to $20 on bid wars... it IS THE TRUE VALUE!!! Nobody can foresee the future, yet baseball legends seem to live well into our future like those in the past 150 years. Examples like this and maybe a 4 ring Terry Bradshaw card need to be looked into further!!! Sellers need to raise pricing... I see 99 cents, I think foreign seller!! It’s how those people deal against the US dollar!!

Some people start items at 99 cents because they know it will start a bidding war (well they hope it will) and result a final price higher then the true value. It works often enough that they keep doing it AND they keep making money.

I hate to break it to you but real value is what someones willing to pay for it. Many card sellers have already reduced cards to .99 and PWE shipping just to unload the stuff. If sellers could get what you call "real value" the market would be flooded with even more cards.

Listing at $0.99 for an auction actually cost the seller much less in eBay selling fees at the end of the month. It's a really good tactic for high traffic items, not so much on others since you may sell below value.
It's a gamble for sure, but it sounds like it's paying off for the sports cards.
