American Silver Mark Identification Help

Hi all, I know it isn't very sharp, but does anyone recognize this silver mark from glass vanity box lid?

what do YOU see then ? best guess at the moment - German crescent for 800 with badly imprinted crown to the right end.

furthermore a pic of the item may help as well.

It almost looks like a hallmark I have on an antique Sterling souvenir spoon.

My spoon was made by one of the major silver makers in Southeast Massachusetts or Rhode Island (Whiting & Davis), but the jeweler had their hallmark put on as a "monogrammed, initial cypher" - G E H.

Find a list of silver hallmarks that are initialsThe maker would either put their hallmark in either place.
