Can I ship an item I sell on eBay myself without using eBay's shipping label service?

Yes you can but you need to manually load the tracking number on the Sold item for your own protection.  Get a receipt from USPS, FedEx or UPS and manually type it in when you return from shipping it ...

Keep in mind you get a discount on most shipping services when purchasing through eBay, this will help offset the Fees you pay on the paid shipping from your customer(s).

Plus, if you don't have a printer, you can still buy the label through eBay and receive a QR code on your phone. The post office will scan that at the front desk and print up the mailing label for your package that way.

What is the problem preventing you from buying your postage on-line as opposed to paying full retail over the counter? The savings will mount up quickly.

Yes. You can take it to the post office or any shipping service you choose.  As others have pointed out, you have to enter the tracking info yourself.  Purchased through eBay, you get a little discount too.

If you already have an account with a shipper, that may be cheaper.

Yes, you can purchase a shipping label through any channel besides the ebay shipping label service. Just don't forget to upload the tracking number for the transaction.🎅😎🙏
