Hi.
I'm just getting started with eBay and the first things I'd like to list are 14K charms. I guess I have to ship them first class, right? Is it safe to ship them in a padded envelope or should I use a box?
Thanks,
Priscilla

No. You must ship 14K items via priority mail INSURED. First class is slow, uninsurable, and does not move from the central shipping point until a truck is full.
If your item is worth shipping, box it, protect it, and ship it PRIORITY.

Depending upon the value first class is fine, however, you should invest in some of those Little boxes like what you would get at the jewelry store, and put your stuff and one of those then bubble wrap the box and put it in a padded mailer.

A box offers far more protection. Items can get smashed in envelopes or even tear through and get lost.

I ship watches all the time in a 5 inch cube box and most of them are only 6 ounces
1st class is good for charms...........why ship by priority when you can do if for $3.50

Insurance can be purchased for First Class packages. I have never heard that "full truck" policy before; do you have a link to a USPS source for that information?

USPS First Class Package/Parcel (mailing envelope that is over than 1/4" in thickness) is insurable at an added cost and have found that the shipping time (3-4 days most usually) is on a par with Priority mail from Georgia all the way to the west coast and many place in between.
Have shipped a few jewelry items in a jewelry box placed inside a padded envelope without issues.
Only First Class mail that has Tracking can be insured by USPS.

I have heard the one about having room on the truck
Apparently 1st class is only taken if there is room on the truck for it
I have never understood what this means. I ship 15 packages every monday by 1st class and back in Novemeber much of it was still there on wednesday.
it happened again recentlly on a monday snowstorm, the clerk said they would stay here till weds even thought they have a truck leaving at night.
I have seen this tracking before with my 1st class packages sitting for days after I dropped them off
I always thought they woud sit at the delivery office if the truck was full.
