I looked at one of your listings, a necktie. You have it listed as FedEx ground. Why?
USPS ground advantage could be as much as 30-50% less (depending on the distance).
FedEx ground will not ship to Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico or any of the territories. Ground Advantage will. BUT use GA to Alaska, etc, ONLY if it is LESS than one pound. If it is over one pound keep Priority Mail as an alternative. GA can take a month or longer to Alaska etc whereas PM is about a week.
For the contiguous 48 GA is your best bet price wise.

I haven't had that experience at all.
I live in Massachusetts. My items have all been delivered in all states in less than a week using GA.
I sold and shipped an item (ground advantage) on June 12 and it was delivered to EAGLE RIVER, AK on June 15 -- 3 days!
I sold and shipped an item to Hawaii on Sept. 30. It was delivered to KANEOHE, HI on October 5.

Most of my Ground Advantage packages to Alaska are heavier (2-8 lbs), so they end up on a cargo ship and take about a month to get there - sometimes 3 weeks on the short end. Last Winter I was seeing consistent 6-8 weeks to Alaska.
Most of my Ground Advantage packages to Hawaii are lightweight (under a lb) and small, so they tend to travel by air and get delivered more quickly.

Alternatively, you could opt into the EIS (eBay International Shipping) program which includes Alaska, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii among the international destinations. Keep in mind that this will add some costs (EIS Shipping) to your buyer but once you do ship it to the EIS Hub, you don't have to worry about returns or paying for return shipping on any INAD. YMMV

New sellers generally aren't eligible for eIS @chevymontecarlo88 .
Richard's reply covers what the original poster needs to do: switch from FedEx to USPS.
I don't see any specific exclusions to Alaska on the few listings I checked so nothing needs to be adjusted on that end.

Did not know any new users would not be eligible for EIS. How long do they need to wait until they can?

One of the bigger issues is eBays under estimation for GA to Alaska.
So if it's over 1 lb. and ends up on a cargo ship then eBays 5 day estimation is very inaccurate.
Also once it gets scanned on the ship no scan for a decent period. So easy for buyer to win an INR.
Less than 1 lb expected by air and typically same shipping speed as priority.
I had to discontinue GA over 1 lb to Alaska due to eBays horrible estimations.
