shipping to a PO Box

Amazing though it may seem, ALL I have for a mail address is a PO Box.  The last time I bought something that would not ship to a PO Box, I put my physical address and they sent it by USPS anyway. Luckily I live in a small town and was able to intercept it, even though 2 post offices were involved.

Ebay used to warn you "seller will not ship to a PO Box " BEFORE you completed the sale. Now they let me commit to buy and THEN told me "No PO Box."

I tried putting both addresses in but the form is still unhappy. I tried contacting the seller, no response. I am getting tired of this.

Always check the Shipping & Payment tab before you purchase anything. If it says anything about blocking PO boxes, then choose the physical address.

FedEx Smartpost can be tricky because of the hand-off to USPS.  In such a case, use the PO street and and "suite" address.

I can see no reason at all not to ship to a PO box. I ship to them no problem.

The only reason I can see to refuse PO Boxes is if the seller never ships USPS.  The postal service reserve those delivery addresses for themselves alone.

I agree with Duchess. ALWAYS check the shipping details to see if the seller has exclusions or policies that will affect your buying experience. As far as the comment about ebay " Now they let me commit to buy and THEN told me "No PO Box." ... Did you get that information from ebay?  My guess is the seller has the listing set up with no PO Boxes and that's why your PO address is not being accepted. Unless there is a glitch in the system causing this. Then my suggestion to that is to call ebay.

so I actually bought two items from "no PO box" sellers this week. One actually IS using Fedex, so I gave him my physical address. The other is using USPS and suggested using the PO street address and then my box number in address line 2. This worked, but only if I put  "Box 12345" and not "PO Box 12345".

I've never noticed that in all my years here.  Probably because I do not have a PO Box.  So it is true, you do learn something new every day!
