Is anyone else disgusted with Ebay keeping your fees when you return shipping costs. I have complained to Ebay repeatedly about this. I will combine shipping and the buyer asks for shipping money back. If I return it, Ebay NEVER returns my fees. I have spoken to an attorney and found this to be illegal. You cannot charge for something you don't have. Ebay is the one forcing this. They have a policy that requires buyers with stikes to pay immediately. As you can guess this will rack up a large amount of shipping costs, so the buyer asks for one package and shipping costs to re returned. If one does that, say goodbye to your postage fees. They get greeder by the day.

The only way eBay approves refunds is if the refund is done through eBay ... if you are doing it through PayPal, then eBay can claim that they have no awareness (or evidence) that the returned money is part of a shipping/product refund.

That’s not the problem here. the seller is issuing partial refunds which cannot be done through eBay. And he’s apparently not calling to request a FVF credit. eBay will also issue a FVF if the refund is done through PayPal, there’s no requirement that it be done through eBay.

I calll Ebay every time it happens and they tell me I can have a refund once but not again. Called 5 times last week to get $4.50 back in postage and they said they would do it, but I have not seen a penny. I always hear the same excuse. It was a sale and we take 10% no matter what.

eBay officially stopped giving Final Value Fee credits on partial refunds about 15 years ago, as best I can remember. Some sellers apparently still get them automatically, and others call and ask eBay to make an exception, but I think the official policy is still no credits on partial refunds.
