shipped to incorrect address

Sold an item on 7/2, printed out invoice and order details.  I shipped to this address on 7/30.  Contacted by buyer on 8/2, item went to wrong address.  Called eBay support.  The address I shipped to is not showing in the order details today but it was on 7/29.  Turns out the address I shipped to is the buyers eBay billing address.  The eBay rep told me the buyer changed her address on 7/30, after the purchase.  eBay told me was I was not responsible as I shipped to the address that was in the system on 7/29.  The buyer opened a case against me on 8/6 for shipping to wrong address.  I called eBay agian and was told the order detail today shows the new address so I am responsible. The address in order details will not changeTHEY CLAIM.  I have a copy of the invocie and order details with the old address from 7/29.  Logically how would I possibly know the persons name and old address unless I got them from eBay???  This was a first time buyer, no old address in my system.      I t would seem that there is an issue in the eBay system.  I know I am not at fault, I shipped to the adress eBay provided.  If the buyer is not as fault as eBay claims, could eBay not be at fault.  Would they not have a mechinism to refund the buyer?  Has anyone seen this issue before?

The address you are supposed to ship to is the address on the PAYPAL payment. Is that where you shipped?

No, but I have copies of teh invoice and order details dated 7/29, sale date, with teh "old address".

No, never checked the PP payment foran  address.  I have sold 20,000+ items on eBay and have always used the eBay SHIPPING ADDRESS, never thought to look at the PP info.  But my PP address is not the same as my shipping address in all cases.  I pay for all items with one PP acoount but have more then one shipping address as I am seasonal mover,deliveries to teh north in summer and to teh south in winter.  Perhaps I will start to match the PP info before shipping and if there is a differnce I can contact the buyer.  This buyer lives in Guatemala and has a relative in FL.  She has some items shipped to Guatemal but for items where the seller won't ship there, like me, she use the relative in FL, changing her shipping aaddress a needed.   The relative moved  from Key Biscayne to Miami and it looks liek the primary shipping address in eBay was changed the dy after this purchase.    eBay says she changed her primary shipping address between FL and Guatemala several times in the past, but that is not helping may case?.  I have actually just heard from two others with similar issues.  In the end they paid the seller as I probably will be forced to.  Oh well, lesson learned.  Why aggravates me is that the two addresses are five miles apart and they probably got the item too!

If you shipped to the confirmed PayPal address, you should be fine.

Buyer is responsible for making sure they have the correct address on the payment.

Did you print out the invoice and details before they paid?  Buyers can enter any address they wish as the ship to address when they pay.  I do it all the time to send stuff to my dad.

Thanks, yes I did print the address before they paid.  Will look after payyment from now on!
