i bought a jacket on august 30th which had an arrival date no later than september 21st, im in ottawa canada and its coming from ny, on september 8th the seller gave a tracking number which has not moved at all, it only shows that the tracking number was created, i contacted the seller on september 22nd asking why had the jacket not arrived yet, and have received no reply, but i can see the seller listing new products during the last few days and even updated a product description yesterday so he is ignoring me on purpose, strange thing is his seller profile went on vacation for a few days the same day i made the purchase

im wondering why would a seller act like this?the jacket is worth $150 and i have lots of positive feedback, should i leave negative feedback?other sellers reply the very next day and even look into calling the postal office if an item takes a long time to arrive

You should not leave negative feedback yet. What you should do is file an item not received case. I am posting instructions for others to learn what to do.

Look for the last estimated delivery date in your purchase history.  You can file a refund request when it is past that date.  Whatever you do don't let the seller talk you into cancelling the case before you receive your item or refund. Some sellers will tell you that as soon as you cancel the case they will send you a refund or new item. If you do cancel before your are fully satisfied, you will loose your eBay protection and possibly your money/item.

Once you file a case, you and the seller will go back and forth. The seller is required to provide you with a tracking number. From there you can track the package. If seller doesn't respond eBay will step in. Be patient once filed.

Find your item here:

https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/get-help-item-hasnt-arrived?id=4042&st=2&pos=2&quer...

After 4 business days after filing you can ask eBay to step in and help if the seller has not refunded you or the item has not arrived.  If you do not ask eBay to step in and help then the case closes after 21 days and you lose.

https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701

You have 30 days from the last estimated delivery date to file a refund request on eBay.

If it is over that you can file a refund request on PayPal up to 180 days from date of purchase.

File the claim here https://www.paypal.com/disputes/

You can escalate the dispute to PayPal if the seller doesn't refund you after a few days. If you do not escalate the dispute, the case closes after 20 days and you lose.

https://www.paypal.com/us/smarthelp/article/how-do-i-escalate-a-dispute-to-a-claim-faq822

If you did not pay using PayPal you can file a chargeback with your bank or Credit Card Company.

Hope this helps!

Why would you not simply open an item not received case, rather than bad mouthing the seller?

I respectfully ask you how is it bad mouthing a seller that does not respond to email of an item purchased?

I agree leaving negative feedback sorta a last resort but it is certainly up to the buyer if they do or do not want to leave negative feedback.

I mainly sell on eBay but in the few cases where I buy I would want to know a seller is responses to emails.

Buyers are just as bad for non response. Due to the Postal Services recent woes I have had several packages that do not have a completed tracking history. When I see this I immediately contact the buyer to see if they have received their item. I currently have emails out to 3 different buyers basically begging them to let me know if they received their item yet, no response from any of them. Its a two way street and very frustrating.

Because that's a really bad business practice and that's how ratings work? If you don't want a bad rating stick to your original agreement.

Buyers are just as bad? That is an outstanding answer! Why is it that no one here can provide an answer to the question instead of your opinion?I have the same question! I have sent 6 messages to a seller about an item I purchased! I have gotten zero response from the seller!Shouldnt the seller be held to a higher standard when it comes to their buyers having a legit question as to the purchase, because face it,if we were not out here buying their wares, they really would not get anywhere would they?

Why cant anyone answer the question instead of offering opinions that frankly are coming from sellers themselves! No one is offering an answer to messages being ignored by sellers!

Did you notice the date of the original message (09/28/20)?

You have tagged on your current issue to an older post and may not get as many replies as if you had begun your own post.

However, here is the deal: eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers is really quite good.  The catch is that the buyer needs to read it, understand it and use it in a timely fashion.

When a buyer has not received his purchase within a day or two of its last estimated delivery date, there's no need to contact either eBay or the seller, just simply open an item not received case, then follow the prompts.

If/when the buyer does receive it, but it's  not as described, again, no need to contact the seller or eBay, jut simply open an item not as described case. In either of these scenarios, the buyer has 30 days to do this with eBay.

After reading this, please feel free to return here if you need further help.

BTW, sellers ARE held to a significantly higher standard than buyers.  If reading the MBG doesn't explain that, again feel free to return here.

I ordered from eBay in the US - something to go to Nova Scotia and it was damaged and eBay escalation said I didn’t have to return it as I sent tons of pics and I’d get a refund - 3 people told me this. Plus it’s in their policy. I never heard from eBay so I contacted my bank and visa opened a dispute and the next day EBay contacted me and said the case was closed as I contacted my bank and opened a dispute.
