questions on calulated shipping charges

when I list an item I usually estimate the weight but when it sells then depending on how much packing materials I need then I can adjust the  weight--Im usually pretty close and refund the buyer if my estimate is higher but for the most part Im pretty close

but lately if Im a bit over and adjust the weight on the shipping label it comes up the same

so say I estimated the weight at 2 pounds but I didnt use as much packing and the box was a bit  smaller

so instead of 2 pounds it was only 1 pound yet the price stayed the same

I think a pound less would make a bit of a difference

its just lately Ive been running into this issue

otherwise when I did the shipping label and out in 1 pound instead of 2 the shipping charge would go down

I have my listings set at calculated charge

If you're shipping via Priority Mail or Ground Advantage, then your packages might be eligible for shipping at the Cubic rate, which is based on distance and package volume rather than on distance and package weight. The savings can be substantial; for packages of the same volume, the postage cost will be the same for any weight up to 20 pounds.

Never EVER estimate. And always include the final size of the shipping box in your listing. As mentioned above SIZE has become more important than weight in shipping due to the advent of cubic shipping. And UPS and FedEx have always used size more so than weight.
