Hi Ebayers,

 

I Bought an iPhone on eBay, the screen arrived cracked (slight crack on the side of the screen). I do not know if it was shipped like that or damaged during shipping. Contacted buyer he said he will exchange or refund me. I told him I would like an exchange.  He requested that I send the phone back and I pay for shipping. After he receives it he will send the new phone and pay me back for the shipping of the return. I told him to send me a pre-paid label instead of me shipping it. He said he will. Now when I check my item page it says "You requested a return. The seller should get back to you soon." Is he supposed to accept the return and it should be able to print a shipping label direct from eBay right? Just want to make sure the return is through eBay process not out of it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

If a return is opened the seller has 3 business days to respond to the return request, if they don't respond you can then ask ebay to step in.

If/ when they accept your return you will get an email saying  The Seller Accepted Your Return 
If they are letting ebay send the label you will get the below information, Or they can send you their own label which is also allowed

Another email will also follow to print label, See screen shot
you would print the label & ship it back

Making sure to print the label within 5 business days
The seller has 6 business days after they get the return back to issue you a refund.

The seller is expected to accept your return request and send you a return label. He pays for return shipping. Returns are to be done thru ebay. Sounds like a newbie seller you're dealing with.

the thing is I think he did not accept or deny the return. So he should accept return before going ahead with anything else correct?

Yes, once he accepts the return, the label will be sent for you to print.

So I asked the seller not to send label and to please accept return and I should be able to print label through ebay.

No, if the seller fails to send a prepaid label, he has to ask eBay to do it.

If the seller doesn't approve a return shipping label, ask eBay to give you one.
