maximum number of cartons is 5 for FedEx Ground

Hello, this isn't a question as much as it is a heads-up.  I listed 10 cases of  biohazard bags and one buyer ordered all 10.  Each case is 19 x 14 x 9", 22 lbs.  We don't have any cartons suitable for overpacking, so I needed to buy & print 10 FedEx Ground labels. The buyer paid for shipping.

As it is already inconvient to buy &  print more than 1 label for a shipment (the option to print more than one should be on the original print packing list and purchase shipping page), I was able to buy & print 5 labels, but when I continued to buy the 6th I was presented with a red box warning that I had already purchaed the maximum number of labels and needed to void one to buy another.  Which would have left me with 5.  I spent over 30 minutes on the phone with customer service and the end result was 5 IS the maximum and any additional labels needed to be purchased through FedEx directly.

If any of the users here know a workaround I would be most appreciative.  But it looks like we will limit future listings to a mximum of 5 shipping units.  Thanx for reading this far, Fred.

5 is the max for any labels.. USPS or FedEx

You'll have to go to the fedex website to purchase more.

I have no advice for the current quandary, but judging by the size of the cartons, in the future you should be able to tape two cartons (" sides aligned" together to create a single "carton". Just be sure to tape around all sides completely (as in strapping them together) as well as along the "seam" where they meet. I've been doing such for 20 years and hve never run into an issue.

PS of course you have to adjust shipping measurements and weight accordingly.

Good advice. That package size doesn't run into any dimensional or oversize troubles if 2 are lashed together, and 44lb actual weight would not result in handler drops and separations.

I'll add that if 2 boxes are strapped together, a packing slip or copy of the label with barcodes crossed out or something with a return address should be included in the unlabeled box just in case they do get separated. Cheap insurance.

Good thought - and such a simple and sensible practice that I am ashamed that I have never thought of it.......................and of course I shall spend the next few days biting my nails worrying whether the "double" I just shipped will come apart and the one carton will fall into the void and the buyer won't get it and I will not be able to replace it and the mortgage payment is due and the kid needs shoes and OH MY GOD!!!!! WHAT HAVE I DONE????? (LOL)

Seriously, thanks for that tip. I shall amend my ways forthwith.
