Hi
I'm getting ahead of myself but I wanted to ask " just in case"
I sold a baseball cap. It was in excellent condition. I listed as not new because I didn't buy it in a store. It looked as if was never worn. I got a message from the buyer that he is going to return the hat because it was all yellow and dirty inside and had hair all over it. If you look at my photos you can see the hat is clean. Even the white tag inside looks new and unused. The hat was $24.00 I have 100% positive feedback, we never even buy a hat to resell if it's dirty. I told the buyer I will be happy to accept the return and refund his money if he would please provide me with photos of the yellow stains, dirt and hair. He hasn't responded and from the way his message sounded, I think he is just going to send it back without opening a case. If he does this I don't know what to do. Should I refuse the package? Thanks for any help.

It's possible that he's planning to send back his old one and keep your new one. If he opens a not as described case, you'll have no choice but to refund him.

I have photos of what I sent to him. If he sends me an old hat Ebay will be able to see the difference.

If the buyer opened a return case, then you must agree to the return and provide a return shipping label. If the didn't open a case, then just sit tight, as you've already asked for pictures. Don't reply again unless a case is opened.
I agree with the poster above that they are just trying to get a refund without returning the hat.

How can a seller protect themself from something like this? I hold my breath each time I ship something hoping I do not get scammed.

Stop selling on the internet. Even B & M stores get taken for a ride by scam artists & shoplifters. i sold industrial forklifts for a career and some buyers will try heir best to get something for nothing.
