I did my first return and chose the wrong option because it should have been an exchange. The buyer returned one item and I shipped him a new one and now he has it, but eBay thinks it was a return and wants me to refund him. I can't figure out how to fix this and release the funds. The buyer is not friendly and so I'm afraid that if PayPal forces through the refund, I'll never get paid for the item I shipped. Please assist because eBay support for sellers SUCKS! Thank you

I don't believe the eBay return system is flexible enough to accommodate your error. You have to refund, and appeal to your customer's sense of decency to send you a payment for the second shipment ... you can invoice the buyer using PayPal.
