eBay return shipping label

Hi all! Quick question or two.

Does eBay only use a First Class Return label?

What if the item weighs 88lbs, over the 70 limit?

Thanks for your time.

Why are you questioning what was sent back if everything is intact?

Ok so a eBay return label of 90lbs can be sent back through Usps?

I need to reread both threads.

No. The USPS weight limit is 70lbs. eBay return labels get no special exemption. For some reason this package got through at 90lbs

and that happened, how?

Re: eBay return shipping label

The post office didn't weigh it.

Re: eBay return shipping label

You would think they could tell a difference over 70lbs. They apparently don’t care or eBay will get charged the underpriced and overweight charge.

Re: eBay return shipping label

The post office doesn't have a charge for packages that weigh more than 70 pounds.

Re: eBay return shipping label

A carrier who picked it up wouldn't necessarily be able tell a pkg was over 70lb, nor would a counter clerk. Only that it was $%$^^# heavy, and "oh my back!"

It should have been put on a scale and rejected at acceptance at the PO. or caught somewhere at a dist center (by APV?) but was not.

There is no evidence (other than this one that slipped through) that USPS has any "special" negotiated contract "over 70lb" provisions, and I'm 99% confident in saying that there are no such provisions. USPS policies are set in stone in the DMM and this would directly violate them (in addition to USPS union issues and legal issues with USPS employees having to handle more that 70lb pkgs)

eBay wouldn't get upcharged anyway. I'm pretty sure their USPS return label deal is "average" charge per label - adjusted quarterly (or whatever) via re-calculation based on actual shipped pkgs. This extra 20lbs would be lost in the noise in that calculation.

That over 70lb package making it though was a fluke.
