eBay can make mistakes, but we can't

I unknowingly clicked UPS instead of USPS on Paypal when I combined a shipment to one buyer and added the second tracking number to the other item.   EVEN though they both had the same tracking number.  When I reallized what I had done, I checked my dashboard and because the second item (in the same box with the same tracking number) I got a DEMARIT on my Dashboard  because ebay says the tracking number was uploaded late.  Well No it wasn't.  If the tracking number is the same on two items then why is it uploaded late?  Same Tracking number should on both items should not be penelized.  OK, I made a mistake.  Nothing was hurt, shipment got there fine.  Buyer left great feedback, but I get a strike because eBay's software doesn't know how to correct their mistakes!  Ebays' software sets you up to fail.  Same Tracking Number WAS NOT uploaded late!

BUT it is ok for eBay to put ship on Tuesday, when order was done on Sunday, because their software doesn't count for Day Light Savings Time!!!

You added a second tracking # that never moved. Thats all that ebay can see.

But when I corrected my mistake and it shows that it was shipped and arrived properly eBay's Software should correct the shipping times and arrival times.  It shows correctly on my end.  But because it wasn't UPLOADED ON TIME it is a catch 22.  It is a way of eBay to give demarits on your dashboard.

Did you correct it within your stated handling time?

It sounds like you got a dashboard ding because you entered an invalid tracking number, then  corrected the mistake after your handling time had expired?  I understand your concern, but I can see how allowing that would be abused by sellers.  What would prevent a weasel from entering a single tracking number for all their week's shipments, then "correcting" them throughout the week when they actually shipped the items?

Occassional errors like this are why eBay allows a small percentage of "late shipments" without penalty to the seller.

If your packages arrived within the Estimated Delivery window, and this isn't a regular event for you, I wouldn't lose a lot of sleep over it.

I agree . "Could been worse"has no clue what they are talking about. If a Tracking # has been used they will not let you put it in. Ebay never takes blame for there errors. I have had dings for late shipments because of weather and USPS not being able to get here. They dont care. It takes a disaster for them to allow late shipments.

How is what happened to the OP eBay's error?   It was the OP's error.   And is the USPS not getting to pick up your items due to the weather  eBay's error as well?

What would be the point of tracking Late Shipments if eBay removed the dings every time the seller complained that his mailman didn't show up, or his right front tire was a little low, or the sun was in his eyes?

eBay is trying to get sellers to take buyer complaints about slow shipping seriously.  They want sellers to ship fast, like eBay competitors do.  Failing that, they want the package to arrive within the Expected Delivery window.  Failing that, they at least don't want the seller to look like he's printing labels immediately, but sitting on the package for days or weeks.
