eBay Standard Envelope per item price limits

Does anyone have a solution for this?

The single item price limit of $20 should be changed to $50. I can use the eBay Standard envelope system to ship 3 coins which combined cost is $49 and combined weight is less than 3 ounces, but I cannot use the system to ship 1 coin which costs $21 and weighs less than 1 ounce. I would like eBay to adjust the per item cost limit from $20 to $50.

Lower the item price by a dollar and increase the shipping cost by a dollar?

Thanks "wastingtime101", but then the question becomes, "does eBay include shipping costs when they calculate price limits for the Standard Envelope System?" The total (coin + shipping) would still be over $20. Anyone know the answer to this? I can't seem to find that addressed by eBay. If eBay doesn't include shipping cost, then theoretically I could sell a $45 coin for $19 + $26 shipping and use the eBay Standard Envelope System. Maybe I should experiment with that?! But that would be seriously misrepresenting the true shipping costs - really don't want to do that!

I don't have a solution, but I whole heartedly agree with you. I primarily sell Pokemon cards and was unaware of this limit. Usually, I ship higher value cards first class in a bubble mailer, but to help increase visibility, I started listing more and more with the standard shipping cost. I sold a card for $30 and was so confused by the "buyer selected shipping" being grayed out. Ended up losing a few bucks having to ship first class due to the sale price. If someone wants to ship a single trading card (or a few coins) they should be able to select any shipping option they want. I'd rather have no limit, but yes, it should absolutely be upped to $50. Let's hope they reevaluate this policy sooner rather than later.

* I believe I can help with your reply down below to wastingtime101, though. I sold a card for 19.99 + shipping and the standard shipping option was still available, so no, as far as I know the limit is based on final sale price without factoring shipping costs in.

I would have thought that the $20 limit was because they do offer to insure the envelopes if they get lost. But the following statement on the ebay standard envelope help page makes it sound as if they do allow a combined shipment of up to $50 in one envelope. Or am I reading it wrong?

Although you're responsible for getting the order to the buyer in good shape, each eBay standard envelope shipment includes a $20 shipping protection plan on a single order, and up to $50 on combined orders to help in case of lost or damaged items.
