eBay International Standard Delivery ,using Priority boxes? but its first class

just noticed the option for eBay International Standard Delivery ,

for international sales I usually ship 1st class ,but when I chose this option, it printed a Priority Shipping label to KY distribution ..Im fine with that, but the question arises, that if I pack this in a Priority box, when KY ships it , do they just slap a new label on it ,and ship it to the buyer via Priority and then turn around and charge my account for the difference?  whats actually going to happen here? should I just use plain boxes? not sure what KY actually does with these items.

When you ship international standard, you are not charged at all for a label until the package is processed in Kentucky or one of the other international standard centers and at that time you should be charged based on the package weight stated in the international standard chart.  They generally don't use USPS once it reaches them so if you use a Priority box, they will probably cover the Priority logo at the center.

Yes, the box will be relabeled with the international label and the customs forms will be produced.

We will not re-box the item; however, I recommend you using plain boxes in the future, but it is not an issue.

I am reopening this discussion because political answers should never be used by ebay personnel. The staff above says it is okay to use a USPS PRIORITY MAIL box for eBay International Standard Delivery but recommends to not use it. Why would it not be recommended if it is acceptable? Objectivity is needed here, not subjectivity.

ANYWAY, keep in mind that in order for it to go to KY, the seller also has to ship it thru the global shipping program. If the global shipping program is not used, it goes straight to the buyer--no middle man.

The real question is: is eBay International Standard Delivery priority mail or not. It is a yes or no answer.

I can tell you now eBay International Standard Delivery is not priority mail, therefor the answer is NO.

Only Priority mail is priority mail.

Be advised once it is delivered, the seller can be charged not only for miscalculated (higher) weight, but also incorrect (higher) service. The priority mail box CAN inform the end handler it is priority mail, treat it as such, and then ensure they get paid for the service they rendered.

eBay International Standard Delivery goes to a location in the US.  From there it is sent to the destination country.

The USPS is only to get the package to the eBay International Standard Delivery facility.

Just because a package arrived in a Priority Box or First Class package has nothing to do with how the package will leave the facility on its way to the international destination.

eBay International Standard Delivery decides what shipping, First Class or Priority is used to get to their facility and this is based on weight and size of package.  They use the same requirements as any other package being shipped within the US.

International standard delivery does not go to the global shipping center although it does go to  a depot in the US before it is relabeled and sent out of the country with DHL. (not usps)

The global shipping program and international standard delivery are two separate services.

FACT  1: eBay International Standard Delivery goes directly to the buyers address unless the global shipping program is also used with it. Only postal services are authorized to open at their discretion. It is not relabeled.

FACT 2: I just sold an item to an international buyer and a CN-22 Customs Declarations form was printed which also contains postage and the tracking number.

FACT 3: If I had used the global shipping program in any case, a Priority mail label to KY would have been printed instead of CN-22. The Priority mail label would have 2 (two) tracking numbers--one for use while in the US and one for use by the end servicer in the destination country.

THESE ARE 3 FACTS.
